After a long , tiring day hiking from Hauteluce to the refuge, it was such a relief to arrive to this place. It exceeded my expectations. Everyone eats at 7pm and 7am. The food is first class, and was so happy to have a delicious 3 course meal Soup, chicken and rice and then a bluberry tart. (I think the menu changes) The breakfast had a slection of yoghurt, bread, jams, fruit. Set in a beautiful location, they've created an amazing space on the mountains that is within a short reach by foot or ski lift. This restaurant is a private farm/refuge. It is open in summer and in winter. It is particularly useful in winter because it is an easy restaurant to get to for a non skier. They have beds and it is possible to stay the night there. It is on the TMB walking circuit in the summer. The patron Jean Pierre is a huge bear of a man and generally very friendly. It always helps to try and speak some french to him even if your language skills are pathetic. From some of the reviews he appears to be a 'marmite ' character. Very nice old chalet. Welcome very nice by a new team. Quality food with local products. The interior spaces are a little small with very little opening. The common dormitory and the sanitary would need a little refreshment because well below the other shelters when you ride the Beaufortain. Not very convenient in raintime because you have to go outside to access the dormitory or the sanitary or to the bag room.
We were a group of 20 people so booked in advance. It was a shame we were inside (as the terrace in the slopes is lovely) but as a large group they were very accommodating. The food was lovely, as was the service. A few hiccups as they forgot 2 meals but this was remedied. Slightly on the pricey side and the food is actually better value at La Bouche Croisee a few metres further down the slope!

Great refuge on the turn of the beaufortin. A team of adorable, efficient girls, welcoming especially for a group of 15!! Nickel sleep we had a great sleep and ate, shower and toilet. And then a picnic for the next day Unforgettable! The best of our week. Thanks to this team that allows hikers to continue their route in good conditions.
Step on the Tower of Beaufortain Friendly and good food On the other hand, sleeping on mattresses that are no longer... you sleep on the boards... damage, bedding to see again!
