After reading several negative reviews, I decided to give this restaurant a try for dinner. The interior definitely needs a renovation as it has a dated and dirty vibe, especially the bathroom. The salt and pepper shakers on my table looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the 70s. The server was okay, but not very friendly and disappeared for extended periods of time. Despite being told the place closes at 7:30, my order took 30 minutes to come out. The food, a chopped steak with mashed potatoes and corn, was tasty although the mashed potatoes had an odd color. On my last meal here, food took quite a while to show up on the table. And this was for a weekend special when they weren't packed to the gills with customers. When it finally came? The good was ok. Nothing to write home about.Decor is dingy and dated. Lighting is dim, and this affects the atmosphere. It doesn't look like a fun place to eat. It feels stuck in time. Drab. Place is a filthy dump and they are nasty. Save your money. What a shame because the area needs a diner. This place needs an entire overhaul. New owners, New management, new staff and new food. They clearly put out the bare minimum. They have die hard regulars that keep this place afloat- seems to be mostly elderly people who probably don't even notice how dirty and low quality the place is. Come here and try it out and tell me I'm wrong.
Definitely will not be back. The food is not that great. I ordered scrabble eggs, but they were the powder ones. Not delicious at all. The place is not that cozy and the food well you can have a better breakfast at home.

tap room used to be the only forest hill neighboring bar. the buyback was the norm. Now they get a small glass wein without buyback and increased.
Pretty solid dive bar with Austin St. Popped in the early evening for food and drink and some baseball before a show in Forest Hills. I will.
