L'autel de la Crèpe was a wonderful discovery this evening, following the recommendation of a friendly local we met in a bookshop. The three staff were friendly and hard-working and the food enjoyed both by us and all the tables around. The range of interesting variations on a crèpe was fascinating. We had the Normandise special which was apple-based but flambéed before us fwith a copper pot of burning calvados !! The Breton specials and hosts were an added bonus. Well worth the visit and somewhere Montluçon can be proud of.

We chose this based on trip advisor reviews but I think it is generally overrated. Although the food was very good the service was frantic and we felt either ignored or hassled to order which meant we couldn't order everything we wanted because he had rushed off. My husband speaks excellent French so it wasn't a lack of communication. Lots of minor little niggles which left an overall feeling of being underwhelmed. Oh and beware it doesn't take credit cards.

Enjoyable evening. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Montlucon, if you like crepes - that really is the only thing they serve. Delicious crepes and friendly service but overpriced drinks (€5.50 for small bottle beer). Very popular - thankfully we had booked based on trip advisor reviews as they turned people away all evening.

Don´t miss this place when you are in town. Amazing crepes and galettes, and even a sweet cat named Réglisse. The Galette Savoyard with bacon, potatoes and Reblochon was a truck drivers breakfast to die for.
