This place is best if you don't want to commit to a full 8 course at other place. The atmosphere is very inviting and subtly romantic. Pretty great place for a first date i would imagine or Friday night classy drinks. The sommelier definitely knew what he was talking about and the pairings went well with each course. The servers were also very friendly and accommodating. Which is probably why i had such a great time. After our conversation the server brought out my dessert with a birthday candle. Kensington Street es una calle de comida que se encuentra en Sydney con una variedad de opciones de comida. Visité autómatas esta noche e intenté su menú establecido de 5 platos. El servicio fue excelente, el equipo fue amable, afable y servicial. Me gusta cómo sonríen y atienden a todos y cada uno de los comensales pacientemente. He visitado varios lugares de excelente gastronomía antes de Automata. Puedo recordar el sabroso pan de papa con Daishi en Ester, la trucha de confitT en Tetsuya, las piedras japonesas en Sepia o la Manzana de la Granny en Lumi. Automata was great! For the price, I would say that it is one of the best degustation experiences in Sydney. All the dishes were packed full of flavour and very well balanced. Highlight for me would be the sugarloaf cabbage with the mushroom sauce - who knew the humble cabbage could taste so delicious?! My only grumble would be that we were seated on the mezzanine level communal table, and the proximity to your neighbours can be a little awkward. But at $88 per head for such stellar food, it's hard to complain. If you're looking for a place for a special occasion, I would recommend this place. Can't wait to return!

It was quite disappointing. I walked in with high expectations but it really missed the mark in many ways. The food was salty and seemed to follow a limited flavour profile. There were really no standout dishes and it was overall a very average experience. We requested a candle to be lit on one of the dessert dishes (for our friend's birthday), it was agreed upon and they didnt even follow through and simply came out with just the desserts. Will probably not come back regarding the high price that doesnt meet other fine dining experiences.

Fantastic food but was rushed out within an hour (6-7pm). When you spend a lot on food and wine you don't want to be pressured to leave in such a short time, and on a Thursday! Hope they take this feedback on board as otherwise à nice place to eat.
