"Great deli! They offer gluten free but only for trendy diet purposes not Celiac friendly. We got a cheesesteak and Ruben which were both delicious. For our GF person we grabbed deli meat from Avalon Market next door and made them a safe sandwich at home."

I had an excellent tuna and provolone hoagie at this restaurant today! I usually go for their amazing cheesesteak, but decided to try a cold hoagie instead and it was so delicious! It's great to see they have a wide variety of tasty options on the menu. My daughter had a grilled veggie wrap and my husband had a turkey hoagie, both of which were equally delicious. Additionally, they are following all COVID guidelines. I ordered over the phone, paid upon arrival, and picked up my order at the outside window with ease. This stress-free experience has definitely convinced me to come back while I'm on vacation this week!
Just stopped by our favorite deli in Avalon! I usually get the cheesesteak (best in SJ but was hungry for a cold hoagie instead! Sooo good! Tuna and provolone with the works did not disappoint! Also got some fries! My daughter got a grilled veggie wrap, husband got a turkey hoagie. Everything was fresh and delicious! We'll be back for sure, especially now knowing they have a wide variety of fantastic food choices on their menu! They are also totally covid compliant! I ordered by phone went in and paid on arrival and picked up a couple minutes later at the outside window! They made it easy and stress free:
I visited 29th St Deli for the first time today and ordered a pineapple chicken teriyaki cheesesteak. I had tried a similar cheesesteak years ago and had been craving it ever since. I happened to be in the area and in need of lunch, so I was thrilled to see it on the menu. The portion size was huge, and they used chunks of real chicken instead of lower quality cheesesteak meat. However, the sandwich was quite soggy and fell apart when I ate it 10 minutes after picking it up. I think next time I'll ask for the roll to be toasted. Despite this, I can't wait to come back!
I recently got lunch from this place and it was decent, but nothing outstanding. We were lucky to find parking right outside, although there are only a few spots available. I opted for the grilled chicken special sandwich and found the bread to be quite tasty. The ingredients were okay, but I think they could have added some pesto or something to make it more exciting. Breakfast sandwiches. Freshly cooked chicken, seasoned to perfection. Freshly ground beef burgers. Best salad bar on island. Kids meals served in a beach bucket with shovel. Customer favorites: Pork roll, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, Old style Italian hoagie, Cracked pepper turkey wrap, Crispy chicken wrap, Buffalo chicken cheesesteak, Fresh veggie wrap, Chicken special sandwich, Flatbread sandwiches. Great food selection. Friendly atmosphere. Great music.
When I die and go to heaven, I hope that this place is up there to serve Buff chix cheese steaks. This place is the ultimate beach sandwich shop and they know how to make a mean cheese steak. From the original to the messy buffalo chicken one, this place knows how to do it. The bread is super soft (classic hoagie roll) and even their mozzarella sticks are perfectly crispy with a nice marinara side sauce. Worth the wait on a busy day and great service as well!
On August 6, 2023, I ordered a BLT wrap with extra bacon at this restaurant. However, when I arrived at the beach and tried it, there was no bacon inside. It was filled with Jersey tomatoes, which tasted good, but I was disappointed that it lacked the bacon I had requested. I called the restaurant and they were very understanding, offering to make me a new wrap. I am hopeful that they will follow through on their promise.
this wasn't my first choice when I decided to place a delivery order this past weekend BUT it was the only place I could get ahold of during the off season (at least this past weekend, October 2019). I fell right into a happy accident!! Great food!! It may become my new favorite place to order down the shore. Loved the cheesesteaks! 29th Street Deli is one of my top spots in Avalon, not just for food options. I adore their crispy chicken wrap, it's one of my go-to dishes. Their cold hoagies are also fantastic. This deli runs efficiently and I always enjoy popping in for lunch. Keep up the great work, 29th Street!
