Avondale Dairy bar is located on the east side of Stewart and south of Carlton on the Niagara side of the Welland Canal across from the St. Catharines side. Facing the civilization side on the other side of the river and with the local tiny airport as their backyard, Avondale Dairy Bar has been serving ice cream for almost 65 years. That's a crazy number seeing as how this side of the canal is still rural farm like but now this dairy farm is a full blown Parmalat milk producing plant. My wife had not been here for 42 years. LOVE. This place is definite go to after a full day's adventure at the various wineries in the area. I've been here maybe 3 4 times now and I always recommend this to friends. The ice cream here is no joke, and they've been around in the area since the 1950s I believe. Prior to the quarantine, there was always a line every time I visited here I've been here twice during the quarantine, and the lines are still here but they feel like they're longer due to the social distancing rules in the lines. The Avondale dairy bar is a staple for anyone who grew up in the Niagara region, bringing to life the sweet history of a family business and the hard work that goes into their products. The dairy bar is located right near the canal attached to the ice cream making factory and cow barns! Picnic tables and double swing sets await your arrival as you lick away at some of the best locally made flavours around! The Avondale charges per an oz so it is definitely pricey but I personally think it is so worth it to get a quality and delicious products. Awesome variety of ice cream flavors as well as options for sundaes, banana splits, and shakes. What I love about this spot is that you pay by weight vs. number of scoops. You wanna try three different flavors but don't want to commit to eating a huge portion? No problem, just ask for three small scoops. You wanna try just one flavor but want a single huge heaping scoop of ice cream? You got it, just ask your server to make it a big one! As someone who loves variety but can't finish a huge portions on my own, this was perfect. Such a cool experience and really delicious ice cream! This off the beaten path ice creamery has a wide variety of flavors, milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits and other retro offerings. It 's located in the middle of wine fields in an old factory building. Unless you knew about it, you wouldn 't find or look for it. If you 're reading this you 're lucky and you should bookmark now! There are swing sets outside and fresh air. It 's a really country experience and feels very wholesome. Standing in line you 'll hear Hang On Sloopy playing and the general vibe is really sweet and warm. The ice cream and treats are super cool though and waiting for you to discover this awesome spot.

We had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The ice cream was exceptionally fresh, and most flavors were just the right amount of sweetness, with the exception of the pineapple upside-down shortcake flavor, which was a bit overpowering. Their Thanksgiving specialty, the pumpkin ice cream pie, was also delightful and held up perfectly during the drive to Toronto with air conditioning. Overall, the service was excellent, with quick attention to guests and a speedy checkout process. We can't wait to return and try more flavors (the coffee flavors were out when we visited, so we're hoping to get them next time).

Tried different milkshakes chocolate mocha, Kaluha, chocolate peanut butter, rum and butter) Tried double chocolate Banana split Tried Coconut almond ice cream scoop Milk shakes were little bit disappointing. It was just ok. Regular store bought milk and regular ice cream tatse Kawartha milk and milkshakes are much better) Banana split was good. Chocolate flavor goes well with banana. There were some vanilla ice cream in the middle. It messed up the tatse. Ice cream scoop was interesting. Overall it was just ok. Not worth the hype I wouldn't recommend it Friendly staff Plenty of free parking around the facility.

I love this place! Every ice cream fan needs to come here. They have a large assortment of flavors and toppings to choose from. I chose the seasonal Caramel Apple and my boyfriend got Grape. I wasn't sure about grape flavored ice cream but he swore it was good and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! The flavors for both were great and didn't taste artificial. Service is quick and efficient and by the time we left there was a line out the door. I can see why this place is popular. The portion sizes were also great, two scoops was more than enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Absolutely fantastic ice cream! I really enjoy the classic Sundae and Banana Splits. It's a lovely spot to hang out with friends.
