Backerei Aurhammer

This little bakery shop is off the main drag in Oberammergau but all the locals sure know where it is. We found it because it was just around the corner from the B&B where we were staying. We ate lunch there twice because we were...in a hurry. They have great deli sandwiches using various meats on their baked breads. However, the best part was the German cakes and pastries. My Mother was German and we visited my relatives in Germany several times in the and My Aunt would bake the best cakes and tortes. When we walked into the Aurhammer, it was like a walk back in time. There were all the same cakes and tortes my Aunt used to make—German cheesecake, plum tortes, and all kinds of apple cakes....

Wonderful place for a random stop. Endless stream of locals were visiting on a Sunday morning. Delicious cakes and great selection of what I imagine are mainly Bavarian specialities. Also, the staff were patient though we were decisive and couldn't speak any useful German. Please...be mindful that you return your platter to the cupboard near the once you're done.

This is a very classy baker shop with a few tables and chairs on the terrace if you want to eat in. Menu is limited to classic breads, cakes and pastries but all very up-market and prices are generally at a premium. I think I...was in here on every day of my stay in Oberammergau for my fresh and morish daily bread. Very friendly staff. All the locals come here.

As we were discovering Oberammergau, we came up with this cosy bakery with a small cafeteria. They have everything fresh and delicious. Well worth a visit and staff is helpful.
