Had this bakery recommended to us by word of mouth for having awesome sausage rolls. Both the plain and Tandoori flavoured sausage rolls are magnificent and melt in your mouth. Not your average sausage meat overcooked in pastry.Pies have an impressive menu as well with the likes of pulled pork; steak and caramelized onion; beef yiros; Philly cheese and steak and even a surf and turf....to name a few.We have trialed the beef steak cheese and bacon as well as the pepper pie and both were absolutely amazing. FIrst visit had a sausage roll and a vanilla slice. I've been on a quest to find a bakery in SA that can make a nice sausage roll. It's easy, put sausage meat in some puff pastry and bake it! But no, it was the same dreadful filling as all the others, what is that? Bread or something? That first vanilla slice was very very nice, about as good as they get, but bought another one a few weeks later and it was not fresh and not enjoyable.Did buy a lamb pie also, it was just full of thick gravy, not a single identifiable piece of meat, ordinary at best. Bake Bakery at Coromandel Valley is a relative newcomer to the Valley and what a success it has been to date. Whenever I have been there for a coffee and cake or pastry its been full or very close to full. It has a delightful range of pastries and cakes (which is all I have tried) and the service in the sit down areas is reasonably prompt and friendly. I love the vanilla slices and recently I found they baked Kitchener buns - haven't had one of these since I left high school - bliss!! I can highly recommend this as a place to visit with friends in a very relaxing atmosphere and at reasonable cost.
Love the food, love the coffee, beautiful friendly staff. Can see the bakers baking up a storm in the open bakery can see the ovens cranked and spinning around. Great outdoor area can put the bikes and even have your dogs sit with you. Vanilla slice are amazing. My local go to bakery for lunch or even dinner options available, quiche are amazing.... Hubby & I have been weekly regulars since the opening. So far, everything we have tried has been fantastic....& we've tried lots!!! Best Sour Dough bread, best honey log cakes ever tried, pies, pasties, coffee - you name it, we've tried it & they are so incredible. You'd be miserable if you could find anything to complain about in this bakery. Great range of breads - cant go anywhere else now! Everything else is equally delicious. Outstanding range of pies and pasties - and cakes. Topped off with good friendly seevice, we are lucky to have this new high quality bakery on our doorstep.
