OK, so dining out Japanese is not what it used to be. You can get Japanese from every shopping centre food court, and indeed some supermarkets. Japanese used to be a somewhat novel, exotic and healthier option – and good value to boot. At Sushiroll (and to be fair they are not alone) the healthiness has been reduced by slathering every other roll in sauce in the name of “fusion”; and what is left is the most ordinary range of sushi imaginable. When Sushiroll first opened in Balgowlah, it was a breath of fresh air with its unique menu and delicious dishes. However, on a recent visit, it was disappointing to find that my favorite dish, Okonomiyaki, was no longer available. The lackluster sushi options and high prices left much to be desired, especially considering the bill for two children and one adult came close to $100. The concept of the sushi train may seem cost-effective, but in this case, it felt overpriced for what was offered.

We were not expecting haute cuisine, but this was very underwhelming. We ordered two dishes to start and two mains. Everything came pretty much at once, in a hurried manner. The green beans were over-cooked and flavourless, the tempura batter was thick, the teriyaki salmon was dry and the yakini beef overly sweet. The mixed tempura plate was described as two prawns and five vegetable pieces. Two of the vegetable pieces were capsicum, two were potato, and the batter was so thick I could not determined what the other was. The rice was good. The main flavour in the meal was from the little packets of ginger and wasabi provided, added to the rice. Not the worst meal I've had but we won't be back...

Unfortunately, the green beans were overcooked and lacked flavor, the tempura batter was heavy, and the teriyaki salmon was dry. The yakini beef was overly sweet. The mixed tempura plate was supposed to have two prawns and five vegetable pieces, but the batter was so thick we couldn't tell what one of the vegetables was. The rice was the best part of the meal, especially when paired with the provided packets of ginger and wasabi. Overall, it wasn't the worst meal we've had, but we won't be returning.

this place is ideal for small groups and is an ideal place for families with small children. 3 hours parking space in stockland shopping center parking space below. business hours between 11 and 8:45 clock. they can take or dive. the seats can be placed next to the sushi train... or at sitting places in the restaurant. my family has been coming back for years as it is a beautiful location and has a great family atmosphere.

My family has been coming back for years as it is quite a nice location and has a great family atmosphere.
visited around 8 o'clock. for table of three given an old and tatty a la carte menu. no great selection or variety in the Sushi train. they enjoy the ebi don fried garnelen with steamed egg with Donburi sauce on rice and a few. plates from the train furniture and fit out look tired after approx. 9 years and not a good view that shops are stacked on the side of the restaurant near the beginning.
the staff were friendly and happy to take orders about the train, the eating was fresh and tasty. sashimi was delicious, owner is there and made sure that the service was good. highly recommended.
