We were staying at the Pullman Hotel of which this is the restaurant. Since we arrive late in the evening we decided to eat at the hotel. In my experience Accor Hotel restaurants are always very good. Well, not this one!The service was slow and very poor. When we placed the orders we had to wait 10 mins and our wine was not brought. I reminded the waitress who took the order and forgotten. When they brought the bill they did not even clear the plates from our main courses. Very poor standard. We booked here for our anniversary dinner. We wished we hadn't.We made a booking for the restaurant, which the hotel lost. A lot of the menu was also unavailable. There were 10 people at the restaurant, and we still had to wait over 30 min for drinks and 45 min for food. We both wanted the prawn fettuccine, but only one serve was available. I was excited as this dish contained black garlic, but when the dish came out, there was no black garlic. After ordering my sirloin steak, we were told 20 minutes later that this was unavailable. If you're staying at the Pullman Hyde Park then you have good reason for eating at Windows on the Park. Great location with a view of Hyde Park through nice big windows, but in all it's a typical hotel restaurant even though this one is located in a nice 4.5* Hotel in the middle of Sydney city. Chairs are marked and worn. No table cloths on the tables. When we arrived there we only a couple of people in the restaurant ( probably hotel quests by the look) No background music so it was very solemn with no atmosphere. Welcomed by Evina as entering the restaurant, we were quickly seated and made to feel welcome. We ordered the prawn entree, chicken breast main with some fries. Out first we're some complimentary brown breads which were very nice. The food was beautiful as well as the service from the staff, mainly Evina. We were surprised how relaxed and professional she remained when with us even while being bombarded with four somewhat rude and disgruntled older guests at an adjacent table. Sadly, even though this restaurant was ok for breakfast (though there was not enough room for everyone, the line of people waiting for a table was 12-13 long) dinner was an experience we could have done without. The food was a hodgepodge of confused flavours. (Gentle scollops overwhelmed by spicy chorizo, crab clashing with overly sweet corn purée!) and the staff were inattentive and uncaring. Not rude per se but cold and standoffish. This despite only having 3 customers in the restaurant to deal with! Not returning and very disappointed.
Honestly, it was perhaps just an off night, as others I know had eaten there and thought it was alright. I had the lamb and it was tough. When I complained, the waitress and manager that evening did not seem overly concerned. For the cost of meals in Sydney, I would have thought there would be a frank apology.As I have travelled several times to Sydney, I must say I have never eaten there since. Oh well, there are many other restaurants available.
