an evening with a friend and six children between us. the children were thrilled when we crossed with the ferry of strangford and this building was the first thing we discovered at the horizon when we approached portaferry! had a large room with doubles and five single beds! not much space, but cozy and clean, and good value for money. we had the bathroom next to the room all to us with shower, wc and washbasin, all impeccably clean. the breakfast next morning (which was included in the price) we were a short walk to the restaurant, also in the possession of the same mannes. we were able to choose any item from the breakfast together with juice, tea and coffee. it was an breakfast of the cha...
last minute changes meant a request to change our date, but out of account! "no problem" said christopher! instead he set us up in their new spatialities at the sea, only a few steps away. the former narrows. are a work in the course, but with fantastic views from each room and meal served as normal in barholm, so what? a large, comfortable bed, intended to die and a beautiful evening meal with two curses in barholm and the usual breakfast festival the next day, is more than enough for everyone. 70 for both of us! more dramatic sunset and short cruise to strangford and back and they have a perfect short break. beautiful environment, nice host and great eating and byo wein! we're coming back....
A large group of us had beakfast in this outstanding location. Fabulous. Food perfectly cooked, service excellent and views that would raise anyone's spirits. At the next table were residents who told us that Barholm is one of the best places to stay in Portaferry... rooms with sea views at a low cost. Add in the good food and what more could anyone want?
we were overnight. the place is great with a seperate lounge and a pool room. our room although tight as it was sleeping 5 it was clean and comfortable. our hosts were friendly and attentive. the breakfast was delicious with nothing too much annoying! a lot of choice would definitely stay here again. the picture is our view during the breakfast!

It's got a fantastic setting but apart from the frys the food is of a basic standard and service is very slow. There is so much more can be done with the property. The don't do traybakes and only small cups of coffee which you've...either drank or has gone cold by the time your food arrives.
This place near short ferry connections is just suitable for short stops as well as the whole place if you wanna shorten your driving route and/or visit the most eastern part of whole island Ireland. We traveled towards Ards Peninsula via Strangford, and take...a brake at here.
Very tasty menu, service speedy and very friendly. As mentioned in title, situated ideally. To watch tooing and froing of the Strangford ferry, and across to Strangford, and the Lough, especially on sunny days, when there are outside tables.
Stayed 2 nights BB!! Utterly faultless. Breakfast is 10/10.. staff wonderful couldn't recommend enough.. Even offered us a late check out free as the driver was a little delicate that morning of departure..

Clean but basic budget accommodation. Really friendly and helpful staff owner runs it and his wife does the food. Great breakfast
relaxing sitting on one of the numerous seashore summer seats slipping takeaway coffee. interesting wood carving.
