we were told in the morning that a particular menu item was safe for a nut allergy, and that no nut products were cooked in the deep fryer. When we arrived for dinner that night and double checked we were informed macadamia crusted fish was fried in the deep fryer.we asked our waitress (who was lovely) to check what could be arranged.She passed on our enquiry to the kitchen and we heard nothing back. When we checked 15 minutes later we were told her meal had been changed to something difference without being consulted.Only after 5 of the 6 meals came out did they check about a request for the 6th meal- which then arrived 10 minutes later.When we went to pay the cashier was so rude and grumpy...
We were here with a group of people and most of us enjoyed our food, the scallops were delicious, probably the best I have had but the tempura prawns were pasty, I did think it was a little expensive for what we were served. The service was up beat and friendly and very good at the start of the evening but got a bit slacker as the evening went on. Also one of my pet hates and something I think is extremely rude, they cleared away the table when I was still eating so I felt extremely rushed, I will give it another go as this was the first time I had been for many years.
The service was friendly. The food was great. My wife has an allergy and the staff went out of their way to make sure her meal was suitable. I asked for a variation to the meal as set out in the menu. No problem at all. Even though the restaurant was busy, the staff were attentive all the time, checking that everything was satisfactory. Sitting outside, facing the sea, on a balmy Cairns evening made it a wonderful experience and, if you order between 5pm and 6pm, you get 20% off your bill.
Food and service can only be described as excellent.A local icon that has served locals and tourists for decades. Locally owned and after all these years described as "The Place to Eat"Seafood is their specialty of course. We have dined here now for many years and when we have friends visit this is the 1st restaurant we recommend.

I'm not going to venture into a long rant about our night here but as a local who has been to this restaurant many times all I can say is what once was a great place is now a shadow on its former self. Waitress was great and thats where it stopped. Utterly disgraceful, will never dine there again.
Excellent food dining alone gave me the opportunity to observe the Maitre De and his staff.They were all very friendly helpful and accommodating. Service food and wine all excellent definitely recommend this restaurant. Very pleasant dining overlooking the water. White linen tablecloths too.
I have been to Barnacle Bill's many time over the years but not since they moved.The food and service was just as good as it has always been. This is an excellent seafood restaurant and being right on the esplanade gives you a good view of the Cairns waterfront.
This is a fabulous restaurant. Every meal I have had there has been delicious. It is definitely our favourite in Cairns. Every time we have the daily special it has been superb. If you order before 1800 you get 20 percent discount on your meal.

Great spot for a restaurant. Friendly staff some of whom recognise you when you visit a second and third time! Very good lunch deal that we sampled 3 times in the week we were in North Queensland. Pretty good service as well. Recommended!
We both had starter of oysters which were a good size and delicious followed by Karumba Barramundi which was absolutely scrumptious. Cannot fault this meal and well and truly recommend. The wait staff were friendly and helpful.
