Barrel Bar and Dining

I'm reluctant to try Restaurants on the lower North shore of Sydney. They always seem to disappoint. So with trepidation I agreed to a light dinner here with some friends.I was impressed. I was really happy to see a quality establishment on the North side that has good food, good ambiance and doesn't cost a packet.We chose simple easy to share starters and they were generously portioned. Very fresh ingredients ( raw fish is always a test and it was delicious) . The wine selection was super impressive and we ordered a bottle of italian Tempranello that was superb and very reasonably priced. Ate there in a party of 5 people - took the Thursday night tasting plate menu at $39 per head. Good value and the highlights being the beef (which we upgraded with great chips) and the chocolate dessert.Took our wine and paid $10 per bottle surcharge.The front bar looks really nice and suited to couples while the backroom is more suited to groups.We would all go back to The Barrel - a really nice night out.

Just along from the Orpheum Movie Theatre is a gem which has both an excellent wine bar and a'la Carte restaurant. If your in before 7 pm its happy hour and wine by the glass is $6 and its a very good drop. We had all the small plates, quail , carppaccio,sashami etc about 6 of them, and enjoyed every one of them. Really nice atmosphere and good value and smart service.

Firstly the staff here know their job. The bar area at the front was busy for a weeknight. Large drinks menu with a happy hour. We had the barramundi which was perfectly cooked, green bean, nice crunch and potato gratin. We also had the pineapple tart dessert, presentation was superb, table each side of us asked what it was and then ordered the same. Great night out Reserva una mesa ahora

My partner and I ate here last night after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. The best Barra I have ever had. The staff were friendly and our polish waitress was so kind and attentive. The atmosphere was great and the wines amazing. Would highly recommend.

Tried the bar food pre-theatre - all very tasty. Calamari served with lettuce and crispy noodles. Service was excellent in ensuring timelines were met. Wine by the glass and good vibe makes this a good place to visit.

My new local.a bit on the fancy side to be a local but it works! In the back is the more sit down dining and in the front is a more bar-like atmosphere.

We will definitely be back when we visit Sydney! Service was outstanding and it was probably once of the nicest meals we've had for a long time!
