agree with previous reviewers. A really tasty meal. Tender salt 'n' pepper calamari, well cooked rare steak, fresh side salad and the mark of a good establishment, great chips!Staff were really friendly but not intrusive. Meals served quickly despite a busy dining area but you didn't feel rushed. Pool table a bonus with teenage kids in tow.Only downside is the dining deck abuts busy main road and sometimes the roaring engines of "hoons" along the road were intrusive but didn't detract from a great night.
Another great meal at the Barron River Hotel the girls had steak n' chips , pizza ,chicken schnitzel. Robbie makes my misses the best Long Island Ice Teas in the world makes it great for when I get home hehehehe. Madison is so cheerful and happy makes the whole experience worth while they have alternate bands every Friday. It's great to kick back and have a good meal with some tunes they also have a kid's playground
The name suggests that it is a restaurant. It's more of a sports bar. You order at the counter, name your table number, pay immediately and take the drinks yourself. Then we eat served. Service was very friendly, food was rather mediocre. Maybe it didn't suit our taste. Had rump steaks, one super tender, the other tough. Probably the others were luckier.
This is one of the best kept secrets in Cairns. The service is swift and professional, staff are very helpful and the chef is amazing! Barron River atmosphere is olde world Cairns, lots of character in the original pub filled with tasteful and interesting memorabillia. Great location, easy parking and highly recommended for families with young children.

We had our Under 10's team break up here which was 10 kids plus siblings and parents and the staff were more than accommodating. Staff were friendly and patient with the kids. Meals were really good and reasonably priced. A few of the families had not been before and said that they would definitely come again. Keep up the great work!!
Stopped in after picking up the hire car. We had a late dinner there . We found the food and service fantastic. Very friendly staff, overall a great experience.
Met up with some friends to enjoy a meal. Staff very friendly. Live music was good. Had the Barramundi which was cooked perfectly. Thanks for a top night.

Comfortable eating inside or out with a varied menu at a reasonable price.Catch the Steak night if you can though. Excellent value.
Great place for lunch or dinner, always friendly helpful staff and it's a great pub with a lot of character.
