Basilic'o - Reservar una mesa

We stumbled across this much understated place and were drawn in by the delicious food in the window. We decided to order food to re-heat back at our apartment. It was so amazing, we ordered lunch every day for the remain of our holiday. We tried the vegetarian lasagne, the meat lasagne, the salad of the day, desserts of the day and the fresh breads. We loved it all and can certainly recommend every dish we tried. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were amazed that on this site, it has not been reviewed much much more. We ate out locally in the evening but this place won our hearts with its fresh, quality food. It is massively understated. We will definitely return and highly recommend you give it a go either eating in or taking the food away to eat. You won't eat better Italian food.

Shopping day out in la Rochelle, with a need for a light lunch. This place is right next door to Galaries Lafayette. There are long queues every weekday lunch-time: it seems to be a favourite of local office and shop workers. Most opt for take-away but you can dine in; though you get the same paper plates. Inside, the decor is fast-food (easy-clean plastic-topped tables, etc), bright and super clean. There is a variety of pasta dishes as well as ready-made salads, sandwiches and tarts. The pasta dishes are sold by weight and can be take away cold (for later heating up) or heated whilst you wait. We had very tasty lasagna and cannelloni (lovely sauces), which we washed down with a half carafe of Sicilian red (OK). The apple tart was so big we shared.

If you decide that you don't want a full restaurant meal for lunch, try Basilic'o. It is an Italian style counter which you can find just through the Porte d'Horloge next to Galeries Lafayette. You can eat inside or order to take away. They have some delicious looking sandwiches, or you can choose from 2-3 lasagne dishes or 2-3 pasta dishes. They also have pasta salads. If you choose to eat inside they will heat the dish for you and serve on a plate with a packet of breadsticks. When you have your meal you can take a carafe of water or like us take two small bottles of wine from the cooler. The staff are cheerful and helpful, and we found the experience of eating in this establishment delightful.

Myself and other half wanted a light lunch we didn't fancy a restaurant and when we walked past this cafe, thought we'd take a look. Fresh salads and sandwiches as well as hot pasta choices, lasagna and other dishes are all temptingly on display. We thoroughly enjoyed a pasta salad and veg lasagna. We had a takeout sandwich and salad another day which were equally as good. Wish there were places like this at home!

We and our kids loved this food even more than what we ate in Italy itself. Fresh,delicious,quick,nice design!!!
