There is hope! Having a somewhat s crappy day today, I decided to treat myself to an ice cream at the Baskin-Robbins in Keizer. I was immediately created by a lovely young lady behind the counter, 'What can I get for you today? '. 'Something to make me smile. I 'm having a crappy day ', I replied. As I went about my selection process we carried on with small talk. I learned she drove from Canby everyday for school and work. Quite the trek. What a responsible and dedicated young lady, I thought. During this small talk I shared with her that I had $20 and needed car food, gas, and cigarettes but, I was going to forgo the cigarettes because I needed this more. She laughed. When I had completed my selection, upgrading twice from a scoop to a full blown brownie sundae, I waited at the register and placed my $20 bill on the counter. She brought my delightful treat over and set it in front of me and said 'Have a nice day! ' 'Don 't i need to pay first? ', I asked, to which she simply replie, 'Have a nice day. ' I wanted to cry. That was the sweetest gesture. The kindness and compassion shown and from such a young girl. It brought hope to my heart. I want we to know how much joy that small kindness brought and that it will be paid forward. Thank you sweet girl. And a huge kudos to the owners of that franchise for employing such deserving young people!!!
