I love Germany. Love German cars, Night Markets and food. And the beer and bread. And Kombi's.But there are no Kombi's here, and no night market, just food and beer. So, groovy, the beer is nice, and there is a decent range. The decor is supposed to be "beer hall" I guess but it was more like a dark institution mess hall. The front desk was mostly unattended and when they showed up they had little idea how to drive the bookings menu and, to be frank, it made no difference. We were not given any nice seats despite our booking ahead.I felt anxious on the seats which were all uniformly wobbly; the free standing tables uncomfortable. The service was one sole determined and lovely waitress who jus...

Bavarian Bier Cafe - name suggest German Bier and food with great service - the only thing keeping this place going is the fantastic effort of the staff - Mel, Charlotte, Chris, Gordon, Candy and Ric are the names I think I heard. There is more local Sydney craft beer than German beer and the menu has been cut so that burgers and other good food are removed from the menu at night - presumably this is too encourage visitors to buy more expensive items - do you remove the burgers from the venue at night and bring them back for tomorrow's lunch???? Rockpool are destroying this place. I don't think they would replace a bento box with a fish and chips at Sake so why they do this with the Bavarian...
I enjoyed a fine (not great as it was overcooked) wiener schnitzel and many a wonderful Bavarian beer. However, at almost $30 for the (slightly overcooked) schnitzel, I expected a side dish as well...but no, $30 isn't quite enough to warrant this, so I was charged a further $2 for a tiny (overcooked again) potato salad. Also, after I paid, the waitress asked me if I wanted my change ($5 or so) or should she just keep it. I found this quite rude and extremely strange for Australia.Overcooked food and staff on the make, I think I'll try a different haus next time.
Modern "German" restaurant and bar in the middle of Sydney CBD. The restaurant features a large bar area with stools; the large German beer glasses are "hanging" from the ceiling. The dining area is large with many tables and lounge chairs. The food is great, especially the chicken wings. We were there last time during a once-a-year promotion of 10 cents chicken wings. Large variety of German beers (from blond to dark) poured in different size glasses (e.g., 300ml, 500ml, and even 1L). Make sure you book a table! Reserva una mesa ahora
Beer selection is great as long as you don't want a mainstream local drop. If you do then go across the road to CBD. The tap beer selection is flavoursome and varied. Always a great experience taking down a Stein or two! Food wise, the menu seems to have changed recently. Still the signature German dishes but missing some of the late night favourites like burgers etc that they had on the menu in months gone by. Overall good atmosphere and definitely not the worst bar to sit in on your own!
Enjoy the beers and schnitzel. It's not Munich but you can indulge. Not cheap, with most German beers between $11-15. The schnitzels are huge ... and enjoy with the right amount of chips. Good with a group for a night out and for a post work drink.
True to its name, the German beer is the main attraction here. We had dinner, and it was certainly serviceable, but the food is not the main attraction - the beer is the main attraction.
The Bavarian seems to have gone down hill from its early daysThe food is frankly rather average and used to be excellent. Reserva una mesa ahora

"My girlfriend really enjoys thirsty bird, but I think it's just average. The fried chicken is pretty typical, but the pickles stand out as unique."
