Post Covid, it seems like the Marinara Sauce in NJ has become somewhat like what they serve in California. Hence, I was happy to learn about Bell Paese (196 Franklin Ave Nutley NJ , a place known for their sauce and fresh seafood, I walked in Bell Paese and right away noticed Scungilli and Calamari in Marinara Sauce on the menu. Still somewhat skeptical, I ordered a slice of pizza. Indeed, both the crust and sauce were different. One slice and I was a believer. I next requested Joe (one of the owners to make me a Scungilli Calamari Sub. After some 10, maybe 12 minutes of robust discussion, Joe convinced me to try their Shrimp Parm Sub instead. I received the wrong order entirely; I had ordered a half pepperoni and half buffalo chicken pizza, but I got cheese instead, and the pizza wasn't even cut correctly. When I called to seek a resolution, the manager yelled at me. I requested a refund for my tip, and he refused, telling me to "do whatever I want," whatever that was supposed to mean. The pizza itself tasted terrible and looked just as unappetizing as the attitude of the person who made it.
The food is incredible, with generous portions, and the staff, including the delivery team, are wonderfully friendly! It truly feels like having a slice of Italy right in your backyard. What more could I add?!!!
Highly disorganized group. More often than not, wait times are exceeded. Food is usually top notch, though, and I can’t say that i’ve ever had a bad meal from this place.

If you go in don't mind the yelling, they have a sign that goes into detail but it's a good show, just two brothers bickering and making great food.

Great food, really an enthusiastic staff of real Italians. Quite vocal with back and forth chatter.Portions are generous and always tasty.
Fun atmosphere. Great Italian restaurant. Speedy delivery. Very personable owners. Just like grandma's cooking.
