After reading someof the reviews on here, I was expecting something resembling a Syrian war zone run by a north Korean dictator. I needed to fuel up, physically and literally, as I had business appointments in the area. Mel, her Mum Mandy (the owner) were really helpful, friendly and approachable to me. Mandy even drew a mud map to a local station for me and even called them to let them know I was on the way. They also had a friendly lad watering the garden and a cheerful Dutch backpacker serving behind the counter. We did a little roadtrip , , Townsville, McKay, , Clermont,Charters Towers Townsville. No gluten free bread and as much of the menu was sandwiches or burgers or crumbed/ battered food this stumped me at first. Asked for a burger without the bread and this was no problem in the end. Basic but generous amount of salad. Partner had chicken schnitzel burger but schnitzel was very dark (overlooked) and chicken was tough and stringy. Tasty but left unpleasant oily aftertaste. Not sure if oil was well used or if it was just too long in the deep fryer. Friendly staff. But it wouldn't hurt to keep a loaf of gluten free bread in the freezer like everyone else does

Stopped here for a rest between Charters and Clermont. I must say that we were surprised how pleasant it was after reading all the reviews.The staff were first rate; they were friendly and very helpful - well done guys. The food was well priced, burgers were only $8.90, which is pretty reasonable these days, but more importantly they were pretty good.The fuel was expensive, but what do you expect in the middle of nowhere?All in all, a good place to rest and grab a bite to eat - we will certainly stop here again, thanks.
A group of us stayed here overnight. We camped out but the rooms looked very clean and tidy. Prices seemed reasonable as well. One thing we did notice was we were being charged different prices for drinks than the locals at the bar. The burgers were great and the BBQ at night was another bonus. Nice steaks and snags as well a salad. Was a great night.
People are friendly and welcoming, cool green garden areas and easy going. The young staff are efficient and friendly. Enjoyed sitting down and having a cold beer with the locals.

Stayed a night in the caravan park and had it to ourselves. Staff friendly and helpful and meals good roadhouse food.
I never write reviews, but this restaurant is worthy of one.
