Bennelong Restaurant

A dining experience starts from the moment of booking. Our casual booking, post performance was confirmed with a table by the pleasant female receptionist. We arrived later, behind another who had not booked but was being promised a table by the hirsute manager who was familiar with the patron and was then led off. We were then ushered to a bar seat and when we informed the staff that we had a table booked, we were told there were no tables remaining! After questioning the manager, we were informed that there was no request for a table on the booking. We were then given a minute to decide if we wanted to sit at the bar on the prospect of a table later in the sitting. A meal thus spoilt is difficult to recover, when the confidence in the truthfulness of the staff has plummeted. This restaurant needs to retrain from the manager to the other receptionist staff.

Visited here with 10 friends for the launch of a conference here in Sydney.Most of our guests were from the USA or Spain, EVERYONE was blown away by the view and the food.We ate Prawns with saffron, Double island point scallops, Polenta with spanner crab, and quail breast entrees....this was beautifully presented and accompanied by white and red from their extensive wine menu.Mains were Barramundi with cabbage and capers (but their sauce was a delight), Macleay Suckling pig with pickled onions (YUM), roasted John Dory with umami butter and separately beef cheeks.We had every dessert on the menu around the table....(Oh my goodness what a selection as we all shared).TIP: Take a lift and although this is a little preicey ...it's worth every dollar.Access is good and easy.

So this was bucket list stuff........first time in Sydney, work trip, one night only, taken by friends and colleagues and they picked up the tab........what's not to love? We had no idea where we were going or what to expect - what a location, you can't be jaded about eating in one of the worlds most iconic buildings.So this was one of the best meals I've eaten, hard to describe......and really good service. I suspect we were lucky as it was a Monday night off season, but I have absolutely nothing but praise. I had scallops, beef cheeks and the lamington, and I died and went to heaven. It's not cheap, and the paltry sterling exchange rate doesn't help, but hey, in my view, it's worth it.

¡Me encantó comer aquí! La comida era impecable y amaba especialmente al personal, estaban tan atentos e hicieron nuestra experiencia mucho mejor. Bennelong excedió mis expectativas y lo recomendaría encarecidamente!

Right at the Sydney Opera house excellent ambiance , food and great wine great service, very impressive cuisine
