"Enjoyed this place for many years, has been around for ages. Was the very first time I tried Deep Fried Ice Cream and was very impressed :) Can be quite busy, so slow service. However the Plum Duck is amazing. Price: $80 for 4 people = approx. $20 per/p -10/05/16"

Forever such a long time, Ben's Vietnamese has been one of the long-running heavyweights within Brisbane's inner central area. That is for many good reasons, most which chalk up to having no sense of pretension in their blood at any point. It is all about having a good time, most of which comes down to having great food in front of you. That is something that is understood really well here, and as a result we have found a winner. It is one of the go-to choices for a meal at short notice. From the last time I went out with her for dinner, I made a brief mention of only being a few photos from expertise in the Woolloongabba area. That was only a passing mention, but it was enough to provoke...

I came here in a large group for a birthday dinner. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling very well that day so I only ordered light meals - vegetarian spring rolls and wonton and BBQ pork soup for myself. I did manage to have a few bites of the main meals that friends had ordered. We didn't have problems with the service. I thought the staff were helpful and food came out quickly. There were many staff working that night so it was easy for us to catch their attention. The soup was really nice, not too salty and the wontons were tasty. The spring rolls were piping hot and crunchy and the sauce that was served with the spring rolls matched beautifully. Some of my friends are vegetarian and this re...

A safe and unpretentious Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant in South Brisbane, Ben's restaurant is a classic go-to for your simple weekend dinners if all you want is good company and hearty food. The menu boasts all the authentic Vietnamese classics including pho, rice paper rolls and sizzling hot plates that will easily satisfy those partial to Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. Deciding to stick with what we knew, we ordered the do-it-yourself rice paper rolls (served with the standard salad ingredients and the oh-so-good nuoc cham dipping sauce) with a variation of 3 meats- pork balls, lemongrass pork cutlet and marinated beef hot plate. Simple, generously-served and delicious. The restaurant...

I've bumped up Ben's rating from 2.5 to 3.5 following a positive experience and lots of positive feedback from friends and colleagues.  Still inconsistent, but my original rating was a bit too harsh. Original review below: Good value ($20-25/person), but food is inconsistent. I live and work in the area, so have tried Ben's on several occasions.  The menu is a bit hit or miss.  I enjoyed the sweet and sour pork and the fried rice, but other dishes weren't up to par.  Never ceases to amaze me when I walk by late in the evening on a Friday or Saturday and the place is rocking out with Karaoke...people seem to really enjoy themselves.  The food and service warrants 2.5...

Back in the day, Vietnamese food at Ben's was awesome. I don't think that's the case now. I hadn't been for over 10 years and just recently started having lunch there with a friend who works nearby. I've had the grilled chicken and vermicelli salad a couple of times and it's not too bad. The service itself is pretty inconsistent, sometimes good and sometimes questionable. As time has moved on, there are so many good places to eat Vietnamese food now. Think Ben's may have seen better days.

Ordered the Grilled Pork Ball vermicelli salad for lunch. what was delivered was frozen pork sausage (not grilled Vietnamese pork ball). Spoke to waitress who agreed it was not Vietnamese grilled pork ball who said they would get the manager, waited 15 minutes for Manager. Went to counter and was told that Ben's had not made authentic Vietnamese grilled pork ball for years. Very disappointed. Will not be going back Reserva una mesa ahora

Our party of four were warmly welcomed and initially served by the cheerful and efficient Helen. Not only did we find the restaurant handy to a venue we were visiting afterwards but it had a separate menu of gluten free choices. The meals were a good size and were tasty and filling. They were delivered promptly. The staff looked very smart in their colorful, traditional looking outfits.
