From Tegernsee station we went through the forest to Neureuth and enjoyed four children between 4 and 11 years. I've been up there quite often in the last 35 strange years and it was great to see the kids... to love it too. Once you cross the meadows around the restaurant, you can see the lake and it is only breathing (the lake and the surrounding mountains). The menu is very Bavarian, the prices are fair and service very good. The children have already announced that they want to come back when we are back in Tegernsee. Btw, in winter you can come with your sledge, i.e. bring it on hills, have something to eat and drink and then take the forest road down hills. Make sure you know how to break as there are some curves and you will be fast...
We followed the Sommerweg from our hotel Der Westerhof in Tegernsee to reach the gasthof at the top of the Neureuth mountain on a partly sunny weekday afternoon early in September. The walk to the summit takes a little over an hour fom the hotel...and rises about 500 metres to an elevation of 1260 metres. The view from the gasthof terrace overlooking the the lake to the south and the towns on the south shore of the lake and mountains beyond is just breathtaking and helpfully explained by a panoramic guide at the edge of the terrace. We ordered Radlers to quench our thirst and then headed back down the mountain for a shower and suana at our hotel before dinner.
You can reach this hut from various direction. During winter there is a great sleigh track from/to Gasse. It is a 90 minutes walk from the parking place. Be well prepared it is steep and slippery, especially the last 30 minutes are tough. At the...end you can enjoy a beautiful view across the Tegernsee. We had a big Kaiserschmarren (21 € and shared with 4 people so delicious.
In May 2018 I went to Tegernsee for a nice hike with a few panorama Tegernsee. This is exactly what you can find from Berggasthof Neureuth, the breathtaking views of Lake Tegern and the surrounding Alps. In addition, you can get very good Bavarian food in a warm and warm atmosphere.
