I found this place in San Pedro. I was actually going next door to the Mexican food restaurant but it was closed that day. I am glad Big Nick's Pizza was open! We walked in and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. The ambiance was nice. Not what you'd expect from their little strip row of shops location. It was nicely built out and had great decor. It has two sides to it. One side is where you place your order/kitchen and the other side is a cozy dinning room with a bar. Wood paneled ceilings and walls with dark rich stained wood. Beautiful stacked stone adorned the top section of the walls from the wall panels up to the ceiling. That was my first experience with this food.. Yummy yummy the food is excellent we have the Greek pizza it had so many good toppings everything was fresh and piping hot... The pasta we got with the brown butter and artichoke hearts was perfectly cooked the only problem I had was the portion was somehow small I would buy a few of them when sharing. Oh and they were busy, but we didn't have to wait for our food to come just a few minutes after our arrival. I can't wait to eat here again, this is Chris Tom and Joy for the nice evening with me......
The interior is definitely more appealing than the exterior. It's a nice pizza spot—clean, and the staff appears friendly and happy to be there. I ordered a small pizza with two toppings: pepperoni and jalapeños. It was pretty good! The crust strikes a nice balance, being slightly crunchy on the outside while remaining soft on the inside. I would have preferred some garlic butter on the edges, though. There was a good amount of cheese and toppings. I would definitely come back again.
If you're looking for the best Italian restaurant in the South Bay, be prepared to wait—this place is always bustling and packed, but the wait is definitely worth it. The staff is fantastic—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They offer great sandwiches, pasta dishes, and pizza. If you're craving Italian food, making the drive to Big Nick's is a must. Best pizza I have ever had. The crust melts in your mouth and they don?t burn it. The cheese was hot and gooey like it should be and the sauce and toppings outstanding. I?ve had lots of pizzas and Big Nicks tops them all. The 2 of us finished the whole small pizza at one sitting. Too good to stop! You?ll love it!
The food was outstanding! I ordered the cheese pizza, the meat lovers pizza, and the seafood pasta. The pasta was not only delicious but also filling, but the pizzas were even better than any other pizza place I've tried. The crust was just perfect. I will definitely return the next time I'm in this city!
When I'm ordering pizzas for my shipmates after a long voyage or for my crew during shore maintenance at the docks, there's no better place for pizza in the South Bay. If you're looking for a delightful sit-down meal, I highly recommend the eggplant parmigiana or the linguine with clams.
