After a 2 hour ordeal, I went on Yelp to warn others like you to avoid this waterfront restaurant (it 's not worth what you have to expose yourself to . The previous reviewer was spot on: the bathroom sinks and floor were moldy; the ceiling tiles in the bar area are literally ready to fall on your head, the chairs and tables are beyond weathered and may collapse at any moment, the rodent holes on the outside walls were visible from our waterfront table view, the waitress was trying her best with the extreme delay in fillin...

We had a great meal here and the prices were very affordable. It was comparable to paying for a Big Boy restaurant. But the food was much better. Salads were very good. They bring out a sweet roll that has cinnamon butter on it. Very good. I had the fish which was great. Veggies were fresh and 5 star. As were the garlic mashed potatoes. My guest had a French dip which was good although the au jus was bit salty. Overall very happy, it was like a 5 star meal for a Big Boy price. The menu is a bit limited to fish and beef but not horribly so. Part of the fun is being off the water and watching the freighters roll by. It's right off the water so you have a great view. The view of the passing ships, boats and fisherman is wonderful, and the main reason that we come to this restaurant. The food and service used to be very good, but these past years it has really dropped. The last and final visit to this venue the food arrived incredibly late to our table and COLD. We were the only patrons int he restaurant and the waiter could not seem to remember that we were there, now what we had ordered. He appeared so disheveled that it became apparent that he was not only the waiter, but the buss boy, cashier, bar tender and cook. We've always had a great meal at Big River Grille. And the bonus, is that we've never had to wait to get a table. Seating is always available and the service is fast and friendly. The food is great! Each time we go we try something different. I had the Italian Quesadillas the last time and they were fabulous. They were almost like miniature calzones, but in quesadilla form, filled with Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese and red sauce. I asked them to add spinach and remove the onions. Very tasty and filling. I also had a Cosmo, which was strong, yet refreshing. If you have a group or just want a nice place for date night, you'll want to try out Big River Grille. This was my second time eating here. Had a great view of the river and could watch the boats, fisherman and Great Lakes freighters going by. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Friday his half off apps. We opted for the mozzarella cheese sticks which tasted like they were microwaved. I ordered the prime rib which was on special. It was just ok as it was over cooked. Menu is a little pricey for the quality of food they serve.

We just went back to McRea's for dinner. We were the only people there. Granted it is a Tuesday evening, but where were the Christmas parties? This is an amazing restaurant with a long history, great food, good prices and a brilliant view of the Saint Clair River! Isn't a shame that so many people now would rather go to cookie cutter chain restaurants then support a locally owned establishment like The Big River Grill.

Fantastic location. Did the Sunday brunch with family. Sirloin ok. Mash potato's were made from a low grade box mix and watery. Cafeteria quality. Chocolate fountain used cold chocolate syrup. Restaurant needs a remodel. Could be a gem but it also was expensive for the quality. Hostess and server were good.

What happened to this place? This was the worst meal ever eaten at any restaurant. All of our 5 meals were terrible from the fatty French dip to the over cooked chicken smothered in cheese; even the French fries were terrible. Cost us $80 for a shitty dinner. Don't go!!! Great food,clam chowder and french onion soup was great. Key lime pie and raspberry lemon pie was amazing. Cody our server was top notch. Place needs a decor makeover. Other than that, we will go back again and again.

Blaming the Coast Guard for flooding on the river is a stupid way to encourage the locals to frequent your establishment.
