We came in on a Thursday night for a few drinks and some food, I don't think we will come back. Although the place is nicely fitted out with a NYC sort of feel, it was let down by there being no one in it, maybe that should of been a warning sign! We came to an empty bar with 3 bar staff and had to wait for them to finish their "socials" until one came to serve us. I asked about the beers on tap including the "guest beer" and was told "what you get is what you see"! After I had walked around the bar looking at the taps (I understand it is hard work for the hipster barman to tell me what the guest tap is) I made a choice of a pint of Australian beer as well as a glass of wine. This place is a joke. Went last night with a group of friends to celebrate a friends birthday. Stood at the bar for close to 40 minutes waiting to be served as patrons who waited barely 5mins were getting their drinks poured. We called out to many bar staff over and over again to be completely ignored. Many of these bar staff looked directly at us and just turned around and served other people. When we finally got to speak to someone a female bartender, we queried why no one was serving us or this side of the bar and explained we had been waiting for close to 40 mins she said "that's bullshit, 40 minutes okay" in a sarcastic, rude tone. At that point we grabbed all of stuff and walked out....
I LOVE THIS PLACE. Don't hate the all caps, they are well deserved. A fantastic addition to Leederville, Bill's offers mouth watering awesome food at really reasonable prices. I've tried everything at least once (the ceviche at least 4 times, it is that good) and cannot fault anything on the menu. My other half appreciates the $4 tins of export, while I enjoy the cocktails or the Pawn Sauv Blanc. As for the service, I have no complaints - the staff are hard working & very well mannered. The venue is warm, inviting and spacious. There can be a bit of a line Saturday nights, so try to take advantage of all Bill's has to offer try going for lunch or early evening. I used to spend a lot of time in the old Leederville pub when West Perth played across the road so it was good to go back and see it in its new guise. Bare boards stripped back walls and ceilings make for an attractive spot. A small menu of pub snack type food and a small wine list as well..but with some interesting inclusions. I was particularly taken by the Coat Tugger range from Margaret River. Well worth a visit..they have a pretty outdoor area as well. perthcafeculture.com.au
My partner and I were looking for a place to eat in Leederville and had never been. Sat down and there weren't many customers not such a good atmosphere. Weren't going to judge on that so grabbed a menu had a look and just wasn't for us. Are somewhere else! Not a very enticing place to go but can't judge the food as we didn't end up eating anything.
Very cool way to replace "the Leedy". Love the interiors - out door seating area is slick yet quirky. Menu is tapas style share plates and there is something for every kind of foodie. Tried the meat & cheese boards - what a dish! They change regularly so you don't know what you'll get - but know this - it'll be good! Nice wine list too.
Not eaten much here so won't comment on the food. As a place to have a drink, I would say it is one of the better spots in Perth in winter. Steer clear of the espresso martinis as they are pretty average. If you're wanting a good night when it is raining on the weekend in Perth I recommend Bills. Gets a line around 9:30-10 normally. This place has been a favourite of mine for quite some time. The staff are terrific, all have a great knowledge and passion for alcohol, and their menus. The food (mmm brisket sandwich) and cocktails are killer. Love the decor, and set up, too. Awesome for a boozy lunch or for getting rowdy on the weekend.
