Bistro Bella Vita never fails to exceed my expectations. A Grand Rapids staple. Before concerts, shows or just for fun. Very spacious and comfortable dining area plus bar. Atmosphere is great with an open layout, and great view of the city. This restaurant has an upscale type atmosphere with a modest price for what could be considered fine dining. Professional staff is very friendly and prompt to seat you and get your drink and food order. Food menu has great and unique options. We visited for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The bruschetta was exceptional. I ordered the confit chicken rotini pasta with pesto and pine nuts; while the dish was delicious, I felt there could have been more chicken and pine nuts for the $24 price tag. My husband tried the salmon and enjoyed it as well. We both savored our wine and gelato. We definitely plan to come back! The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I knocked off one star because it felt a bit pricey. Our bill for two glasses of wine, one appetizer, two main courses, and gelato exceeded $100.
My stand son-in-law took me here for Mother's Day. We had a wonderful time. Our server was so friendly and helpful. I ordered the roasted chicken and it was fabulous. My daughter enjoyed her ravioli and my son-in-law had the risotto with lots of shrimp the portion sizes were more than generous and all were delicious. We wrapped up our meal with a shared treat of chocolate gelato. This was my second visit to Bella Vita, and my kids had been here and few more times. Always a treat and always great food and service! Our server Ashley was extremely attentive. She was very helpful with knowledge of our allergens and making sure we knew what substitutions we could make. Great place for a quiet dinner, date night, or special occasion. The food is quite good, but is definitely on the more expensive side. I do beleive the price is justified given the exceptional service and quality dishes. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and made sure to make our celebratory dinner special.
Such a great restaurant! We celebrated a birthday and they customized the menu for our celebration, served dessert with a BD candle--service was outstanding. And all this personalized service while the place was buzzing with large groups of prom kids.
Given the reviews, I had high hopes. But the pizza was mediocre, very heavy with cheese and sauces, the salad had old lettuce, and a Tito cosmo was considered premium price. Given the high prices I expected better food and a better experience.
Beautiful restaurant, the food was amazing. I recommend the broccoli and cauliflower appetizer. The pesto entree was phenomenal.
