Bistro Sakana - Reservar una mesa

we ordered the delivery. it said 15 minutes, then we got an email that said 55. not a big thing, but whatever. the kicker was for us - this place was recommended so we wanted to try. so we got approx. $100 sushi for the delivery. it was a sortiment of sushi, nitriri and roll. when my man came back to our hotel room and opened the bag, there were two packages soy sauce. there were literally twice as much washabi in the dishes as there was soy sauce. they can call us small, but it has ruined us all the meal and that was a 15 minute walk away from the hotel, we could not just “run back” and get more. super disappointed.

we ended up randomly in this restaurant and did not expect to be treated with a culinary adventure, the delicious lush pork bell served with a smoke that was served under a glass cone (quite a show), excellent sablefish with beautiful glaze, beef...tataki served over crispy apple slices, omakase premium aburi set and a few delicious sushi roll. a certain place “we will be back”.

First, Sakana seems to have become a cult Japanese bistro; the night we went, it was packed even though it was mid-week. Second, the food was just as good as before 2020. Third, it is a small place, and when crowded, might not be ideal...for those aware of social distancing. But such an inventive menu, and such delicate preparation!

smack in the middle of yaletown has this upscale Japanese restaurant a great selection of food; while I focused on sushi dishes. absolutely delicious! sat outside on the terrace and service was friendly and professional. would return anytime. bernd williams lake, bc

best sushi in vancouver by far! have been to numerous sushi sites in the city and nothing compare with the fresh fish and variety from japan. we had a great time to enjoy the food while watching the professionals at work. only outstanding service and eating!
