We have a group of us meeting up once a month - 2 months sampling the top 10 Steak Restaurants in Sydney. Working through these is a treat and exceptional experience in the main.So for the Black Bar and Grill I have held off a little while as I wrote a first draft and it was not very flattering due to my experience. The menu options are exactly as expected for a Top notch Steak Restaurant. Great cuts of meat and various quality / marbling options. Costs are high end however if delivering on the experience then you would expect to pay for the privilege and leave satisfied. Delivering on the promise: Not so much. The experience part was off to a good start with great views outlooking the water...
We walked in as soon as the restaurant opened, without a reservation, we were lucky enough to get a window table. All the staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable. Our waitress was lovely and helped us navigate the exciting menu. *** The food *** was spectacular. Everything we ate had my eyes rolling a little into the back of my head. Highly recommended for a special occasion, or if you can afford it, as often as possible.
This is our 3rd visit for the champagne lunch on the weekend and absolutely loved it again. Atmosphere, service and the food were all excellent. Oysters were again so fresh & delicious. Mains were all great, especially the steak, strip loin wagyu, best steak ever (my son's words). Will definitely be back & highly recommend.
We visit Black every time we are in Sydney, normally once or twice a month. The quality of food never disappoints and the staff is exceptional. Very good Sommelier who can recommend a wine we would not normally try and we are pleasantly surprised every time. Great restaurant.
