(Last visit 7/29/2021. As a very popular and local favorite I was a few times in this place, but have never come to do a real Yelp review! Shame on me. Now it's time! atmosphere / appearance: This jewel is located in downtown Hartford on Asylum Street. It is located under the fantastic Pig 's Eye Pub and has a very casual but uplifting feeling. It is everywhere red, dark forests, high ceilings, great music and lots of space. There are 3 separate dining areas and even a place for live music. Okay, so if you're in this area, this place is a must to eat! The photos really don't make justice! The food was so damn good. One thing to note is that you need to book a reservation in advance because it fills up quickly. My friend and I sat at the bar and could eat and drink. Another thing I notice is that it closes at 9:30 a.m. on a Saturday I thought was particularly strange because it's the weekend and there were many people out there.

Basically open mic night meets Village Vanguard in Hartford Connecticut tonight. The jazz was great and food even better. Southern fried chicken. Done. The corn bread with honey butter was decadent. Actually some of the best collard greens I’ve ever had. Jazz flute was just icing on the cake. Did I mention the Sally’s Sip cocktail, Georgia Peach with gentle aromas like Buddha’s hand.

Tastes like a hug from Mom! The food was absolutely delicious — the cheddar grits were so good we had to be extra at home! The butter milk Ranch sauce, which came with the fried green tomatoes, was sinful good. Our waitress Sierra was great and so friendly. You really can't go wrong here!
