From the very first time I spoke with Barbara, I knew this was going to be a perfect fit. We truly felt like part of the family! We visited tonight in celebration of my husband's birthday This was our second time dining here and although the experience was good it wasn't as great as the first time. Our waiter, Matthieu, was attentive though not overbearing as he was at times busy with other patrons. He was assisted by, Barbara, who was a pleasure and more than helpful. My meal, the seafood combination, could have used more flavor, but the fish was cooked tenderly. The Black Forest Inn catered our wedding of 120 people at an offsite location (Chelsea Sun Inn) on July 22, 2023. We contacted the owner (Barbara) 18 months prior to the wedding. Barbara ’s upfront planning and attention to detail made the wedding a huge success. They handled all aspects of food, servers and bartenders. The staff was professional and on top of everything. The day of the wedding was amazing Barbara’s crew needed very little direction even helped out on aspects of the wedding that had nothing to do with catering. Delicious, authentic German food! The building is delightfully kitschy with stained glass hunting scenes, German tchotchkes and servers in Tracht. Everything I had was perfect: flammekuche like straight out of Strasbourg, tender Christmas goose, delicious Maultaschen, and glühwein for Christmas spirit. The only downpoint was the pretzel “stick” with the sausage sampler, which seemed like the frozen ones you get in a cafeteria. Skip it and get a potato dumpling instead. I’ll definitely be back. It wasn't my favorite meal. I was also a bit confused about the pricing; the mushroom ravioli was listed as a special for $10, yet I was charged $27. I didn't mention it because I didn't want to be rude, and I did really enjoy the cute atmosphere of the place. However, overall, I found the food wasn't quite to my taste. The menu primarily features German cuisine, but it was still a great experience.

Had a wonderful German dinner with friends. Jerry our server was fantastic. Very helpful and a joy to have her tell stories it completed our night. The food reminded me of my grandmother's cooking. Rolodens were out of this world so tender. Red cabbage was great. The pork shank was large crispy and tender. We will be back.

This is an outstanding German restaurant! We relished the roast goose, sausage sampler, Flammkuchen, Maultaschen, spätzle, Christmas ale, potato dumplings, and apple strudel. Everything was delicious and expertly crafted. We will definitely be returning!

Food is excellent. Very comfortable old world atmosphere. Service is great. Only downer... pay with plastic and 5% is added to the bill. It'd be respectful if this were told to a patron before bill presentation.

Very enjoyable evening where everyone found something to suit their palate, and I got OYSTERS on the half-shell, my all-time favorite dish.
