"Tastes like a hug from Mom! The food was absolutely delicious — the cheddar grits were so good we had to being extra home! The buttermilk ranch sauce that came with the fried green tomatoes was sinfully good. Our waitress Sierra was great and so friendly. You really can’t go wrong here!"

(Last visited 7/29/2021. As a very popular and local favorite I 've been to this place a couple of times, but have never gotten around to doing an actual Yelp review! Shame on me. Well, now it 's time! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right downtown Hartford on Asylum Street is this gem. It 's located underneath the awesome Pig 's Eye Pub and has a very casual, yet, upscale feel to it. There 's red everywhere, dark woods, high ceilings, great music and a lot of room. There 's like 3 separate dining areas and even a place for live music. I haven 't seen a show here in quite a while, but it 's such a good time when they get a good jazz band in here. Service: Daria took good care of us! She was fast...

Delicious food with a great atmosphere. We were walk-ins so had to wait a bit for a table inside, but there was a band playing live music so the atmosphere during the wait was upbeat and lively. Service was a bit strained and the bar understaffed, so drinks took a long time to arrive once ordered and turned up after we finished our starters -1* , but the food was excellent. Absolutely delicious gumbo to start and 1/2 rack o' ribs to follow with a tasty slaw, rice beans. The Mac cheese side is also the best I've had while out in the US.. possibly because it tastes like it actually has real cheese in it and had a nice crispy top.

Okay y’all, so whenever you are in this area, this place is a must eat at! The photos really do no justice! This food was so damn good lol. One thing to note is that you need to book a reservation in advance because it does fill up quick. My friend and I sat at the bar and were able to eat and drink. Another thing I notice is that it closes at 9:30PM on a Saturday which I thought was strange especially because it’s the weekend and there were a lot of people out.

Basically open mic night meets Village Vanguard in Hartford Connecticut tonight. The jazz was great and food even better. Southern fried chicken. Done. The corn bread with honey butter was decadent. Actually some of the best collard greens I’ve ever had. Jazz flute was just icing on the cake. Did I mention the Sally’s Sip cocktail, Georgia Peach with gentle aromas like Buddha’s hand.
