DO NOT EAT HERE!!! we ordered 2 x chillie con carne 1 x Ham egg and chips 1 x steak, chips and onion rings The steak was very grissly and stringy unpleasant to eat. Chips were all cold and a cheap side salad was served NO checkbacks were made, so after 20 mins we called the young waitress over to explain the steak was not edible. We were told by the owner and chef to use our legs and go to the bar instead of table service. they only had 2 tables in for food a very manageable number! The owner became defensive, verbally aggressive and very unprofessional. Having passed a few days ago and the carpark was full I knew this place was worth a visit. Popped in this afternoon and although a bit quiet being a Tuesday out of holiday season I wasn't too surprised. This didn't bother us as we knew it wouldn't take long to get served our meal. We both had the steak and although pricey we weren't disappointed as the plate was full and we knew the chef took a real pride in his work. A real change for us from the usual chain style pub food that is all too prevalent these days. Visited here today for a spot of lunch. The waitress was lovely and very helpful. The food took longer than expected to turn up and when it did. I was very disappointed. Very overpriced. Calling the person in the kitchen a chef is laughable. Decided a salad with a chicken burger sliced on top was supposed to be a Cesar salad. Felt like I was eating a child's meal, no salad or garnish and was even charged for tarte sauce. Sadly to say, I won't be returning here. The two stars reflect the customer service we received from the waitress/bar staff not the food unfortunately.
WOW!!! A lovely pub, clean and welcoming, friendly cheerful staff happy to have a chat and also do their job. Between us we had 3 steaks and 2 burgers. The burgers were lovely and tasty and the steaks were all cooked to perfection with not a bit left on the plate! fresh crispy side salad and plentiful chips. Certainly didnt leave hungry. Nice to see a place with no over the top frills or gimmicks that just has good food. We will be back next time we are visiting the area!!

The service was good; the waitress friendly and helpful. The menu was very limited and basically most items were one dish same with sauces added. Jackets, but no tuna. No burgers, no sandwiches or soup. The menu was pricey for mediocre food and warm wine. They have no clue what chicken ceaser salad is… mixed salad with balsamic vinegar, coleslaw, tomatoes with a chicken burger on top and a thimble of ceaser sauce which was rank. A lazy chef. V disappointed.
Lovely pub, great hospitality and food. Tables well spaced out and comfortable environment. Warm welcome on arrival with pub grub on offer. Staff were very helpful and friendly, eager to serve. Selection of meals was adequate but all meals served up were cooked perfectly, arrived the same time and tasted great. Prices were very reasonable given the quality of foods and service. Definitely recommend and we will be visiting again. Thanks very much.
Staying in a nearby caravan park, went for a walk and popped in for a drink, saw the food going out and decided to have food. Had the specials, , gammon and chips and steak and chips. Food quite cold and meat tough. The peppercorn sauce was warmer than the food. Chips small portion but nice although lots of scraps. Saw the cheesecake and had it with ice cream. Cheesecake frozen in middle. Overpriced for bland food.
Restrained menu, lacking basic expected items. But it's out of season, so maybe the menu will buck up in the summer. I don't think a beef burger beef lasagna is asking for anything too exotic for a pub. The lack of winter reviews, perhaps shows why us locals don't really dine here in the winter.

We had a warm welcome, a really lovely meal and were able to take our dog with us. The food was piping hot, well presented and tasty. Just what we needed on a cool April evening
