Good for them that the restaurant is fully in the dark, because what was in our plate was canteen level. Don 't get me wrong: it is not dreadful, but it is also not worth over 100 chf per person for a surprise menu consisting of a soup, a mixed leaf salad bathing in sauce, a bit of beef, and an apple strudel. What I think everyone expects from a blind restaurant is to be surprised with textures, temperatures and tastes. There are no pictures! Phones and belongings are locked up in personal, locked lockers to provide total darkness with dinner. We are guided to dinner by wait persons who are either blind or visually impaired as they explain the concept of the restaurant. They communicate directly to you as how walk, follow and seat yourself at the table. We picked the mystery dinner, and could only guess at the foods we were eating, the foods were Swiss and we didn’t always know what we were eating. The dinner was amazing; we could hear other conversations, smell the delicious foods and follow the conversations of family members closer in the dark than a normal setting. I loved the totally immersive experience. I have always wanted to try it. Lovely greeting and explanations by the hostess. Service started out great with the starters, but our dinners took an exceptionally long time to arrive. I believe they were forgotten due to the restaurant being hit with many people arriving well before their reservations. Once we asked (should have lots sooner), it arrived quickly. Luckily our 8 year old was a trooper about the delay. I wasn’t wild about my food but I think I just chose the wrong item for myself. The others were very happy.
A really great experience eating here. Everything went smoothly with the reservation, even one more person registered two days earlier. The instructions were great. Our service was very friendly and courteous. It was also exciting not knowing what you would be served. Because you don't have the sense to see, your sense of hearing increases. With the starter it was clear what we were eating. The main course was difficult. The dessert again very simple. I can only recommend everyone to go out for dinner. To this day, one of the most unique dining experiences. The Blindekuh (Blind Cow is a restaurant that is completely in the dark (the original! . As can be imagined, there's a lots of screaming and laughing that goes on as each dish is brought out. The most astonishing part is that all the staff are Blind or Partially Blind, giving them the opportunity to work in their own environment.
An incredible experience from walking in the door to being taken to our seats. Anyah was our waitress, could not have been better, more courteous and lovely. 2/3 of us had surprise vegan dinners which were amazing along with wine. A must do. Easily reminds us of so much we take for granted to be grateful for.
