The everything breakfast was good and hot. Sausage gravy was cold and had a huge lump of something? Meatloaf maybe? It wasn’t sausage. Our waitress wasn’t very attentive and we couldn’t see her. Only two other tables with people at them. When she finally came over I told her about the lump and all she said was, “its probably coagulation.” *gag* She picked it up and walked off. I was seated at the restaurant, which wasn't busy at the time, but most of the waitstaff were gathered around the prep area chatting. The table next to me had a woman with just a menu and a glass of water, while the waitresses kept passing by my table, never stopping to check if we needed anything, like taking our orders. I didn't even receive a glass of water. If they had been short-staffed, I could understand, but there were plenty of employees who could have been helping in the dining area. I'm not sure what's happening, but my breakfast experience today was disappointing. I've been a loyal customer for years, but recently, it's been inconsistent. The food lacked flavor, and the portions were surprisingly small, resembling what you'd expect for kids. The pancakes were doughy and missing the sausage that should have accompanied them. When the manager came to check on us, she didn't seem very apologetic. While she offered to replace the food, I didn't see the point in ordering more of the same. We arrived at the restaurant and requested a booth, but were seated at a table instead, despite many booths being available. After about 15 minutes, we were finally asked for our drink orders; my mother and I both ordered sweet tea. My mom received her tea, which was overly sweet, while mine was somewhat bitter and lacked sweetness. When we requested a replacement, it took a little while, but it turned out fine. After placing our order, we waited exactly an hour for our food. Bob Evans is, well Bob Evans. Like any chain, you know what to expect when you walk in. Decent to good food and decent service. There is always some confusion when being seated, don't know why. Somehow we end up with the same server every visit, which is great because she knows what she is doing. Pancakes are good--hard to mess up, and the pot roast hash is good too. Salads are usually surprisingly good and fresh. The staff can be rushed during peak times, so give them a break, being understaffed is rough.
If your not in a rush you will be okay. Service is extremely extremely slow. Staff seems very busy but nothing happens. 20 minutes to get a refill on coffee. Food comes and there gone again. Waited for anyone to tell we needed boxes. 10 minutes. Need the check. 10 minutes she asked if we wanted a bag. I didn't want to wait another 10 minutes. Oh.... Still waiting on that coffee refill.
