The walk from downtown Ilmenau takes about an hour to give or take, but it is absolutely worth it. The view from the top of Lindenberg is great, and within you get simple traditional foods such as rust bead. They are well advised to call and check whether the place will be open, as there are some complaints from locals about unreliable opening hours. Monday and Tuesday are official closing days.

On our hiking tour we arrived for lunch and ordered everything for 20 people in advance by phone. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the meal was just great for everyone. From beef steak to salads, each dish was perfect, especially the regional ones. We'll be back.

We had our office party in BOBhutte. Food is nice and place is cozy. Being at the top of the hill makes the climb till there quite demanding, has a road route as well though.
