Bill 0/5!!! Look closely. What the heck is a Cocina Fee? Exactly, Cocina means kitchen in Spanish. Yes, when ordering dinner here, almost everyone orders in English, not Spanish. The owner instead of raising the salary of his kitchen staff decided to make it your responsibility. Then the owner added this little note on the bill deciding that yes...you are responsible for his/her staffs fair wage. On top of that, it is added without even letting you know until the end. Sneaky bad word, bad word. If I could curse on this, I would. The manager said he would remove it, but that is not the point. They didn't let anyone know before the bill and just tried to sneak it through. This is such a despic...
Had dinner here last night and I was so disappointed. Ive been to the Bodega in Fairfield multiple times and love it. But the Darien one is completely different. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks which were good. But when it came to food I told bartender we were ready to order and he walked over to the computer 4 feet away and made me shout my order to him while he put it in. It was loud and I wasn't sure if he got my order correct, which it wasn't. I ordered guac with extra jalapeños and it came out with no jalapeño (it even said on our receipt, no jalapeños).The guac was also bland, very flavorless. I have heard so much about this place and finally got the chance to go to a taco on Tuesday! I ordered a pitcher of bodegarita and guac as app. love places that offer great drinks for big parties and the guacamole was perfectly clobular and fresh. I ordered a handful tacos and tried some seasonal specials an arepa and a torta (sandwich). they were both so good, I didn't even get a photo first. highly recommended to go early when they are there on a weekend or Tuesday, because they are so popular, but that's worth waiting!
I will not be returning to Bodega until they lower the ridiculous mandatory kitchen fees. It is dishonest for Bodega to portray a sense of inequality in the kitchen when it does not exist. Restaurant workers in Fairfield County have plenty of job opportunities and are paid well, so if they are not being paid properly, it is because Bodega is not paying them. We came here with a large group and had a negative experience. Our orders were mixed up, some dishes arrived before others, the music was too loud, and the prices were high for the portion sizes. The most disappointing part was being charged for drinks we never received. On top of that, we were presented with the bill while some of us were still eating, and the confusion of splitting the bill among four credit cards caused chaos at our table of 15 people.
We ate at Bodega for the first time on a Tuesday (Taco Tuesday! . I loved the numerous taco options, and I tried 3 different ones: the Americano, Baja, and Chicken Tinga. They were each delicious, and I loved that they have outdoor dining options. We’ll definitely be eating there again!
James is the best bartender in town. Thank you for always making Mike and I feel welcome. You have a fabulous vibe. So sweet and kind. JP and Chris you rock!! The whole Bodega staff is amazing. They are like family in there. Keep doing what your doing. The food is excellent. Thank you!
the food and service was absolutely amazing! the ambiente was great, eating was so delicious, everything we tried was tasteful. jp made suggestions and they were all great. the pot de creme best dessert in the house. we look forward to the return flight! Reserva una mesa ahora
