The Bosna is off the main restaurant area in Grainau, and well worth looking for. It is connected with the Metzgerei so they really know how to prepare meat. The menu is large and includes many Balkan dishes as well as German fare, fish, salads, and even some vegetarian offerings. At lunch, the metzger (butcher) greets you as you enter and is so friendly. In the evening his waiter, Goran, who speaks great English, is glad to help you with the menu, and accommodate any special requests. I have eaten here many times, and have found the food consistantly delicious each time. Try the Bosna when you are in Grainau, or make a special trip from Garmisch too!
It's 3 years since we were last in Grainau, the Bosna is still the best! We've just been out for an evening meal to get out of the rain, both had soup to start and two Wienerschnitzels with salad/chips for our mains... everything was delicious and we came out absolutely stuffed! The waiter was the same gentleman as before, and as before was just as attentive and polite, really first class friendly service. We'd highly recommend this Restaurant if you are in the area. We've eaten here many times over the past 6 years or so and have never been disappointed, consistently good food and service.
This is not one of the trendy restaurants but (pobably) a rather old fashioned family gasthaus most likely run (very well) by a former Bosnian family. Well frequented place with great Bosnian food like Pola Pola, Cevapcici etc. plus international dishes. Good schnitzel, steak, white asparagus. Good quality, well seasoned meats, great portions and great value. Very friendly and good service, a younger waiter has a great command of the English language. Terrasse in the front, prices are cheap to mid-range.
We stopped here for refreshments twice in the week we spent in Garmisch Partenkirchen. Our hotel had free e cycles for guests to use so we took the opportunity to explore further afield.The second time it was an enforced stop as one of the cycles got a puncture and the Bosna owner was very helpful in arranging a replacement cycle from our hotel.Both time we had excellent Apple Strudel and hot drinks and the service was very good. The Bosna Restaurant is hidden in the little town of Grainau on the way to the Zugspitse. I highly recommend finding it. It has indoor and out door seating. The owner, a butcher, from Basnia will greet you himself. The food is excellent and I especially recommend the Schweinhochs. See photo I posted on previous review. Once you try Bosna you will want to stop on each trip to Germany as I do.
Our group had three dishes and the only main that fell short of perfection was the cordon bleu--and I got the sense this is not exactly their specialty. Sides were so-so, other than the sauerkraut, which was very good. Vegetables were frozen krinkle-cut style. The pork hock was amazing and schnitzel was tender and flavorful.
This restaurant is superb the staff cannot do enough to cater for your individual needs. Didn't wait for a drink as the waiter came out straight away Also the wait wasn't long at all for main meal. The food came hot and well presented have eaten here three times and on all occasions the food was spot on.
The waiter is super friendly and speaks both English and German - probably his own native tongue as well! At any rate, it is worth a visit. The interior is a bit old school with some Bavarian charm. Great service and a nice overall place to check out. Reserva una mesa ahora
