Boto Sushi Del Mar

Horrible service. It was my first time ordering from this restaurant so I tried to order something over the phone and the lady acted bothered the entire time. I asked to order a bento box, the lady replied with “Ma’am its dinner time.” Which I replied with “Okay, so can I get a bento box?” She then proceeded to act bothered like I’m supposed to automatically know that they don’t do bento boxes at dinner time. I asked if they had anything similar on the menu to which she replied with a flat out “No”. So I told her never mind and she hung up on me. Wow! some service, way to sell your product! Will never try to order from here again based on this customer service alone.

Boto Sushi is one of our favorites. It is a higher end sushi restaurant with many special items imported directly from Japan. It's hard to find fresh wasabi but Boto has it and grates it's fresh for you. Gary the chef and owner does a great job with his creations. Even his garnishes are delicious. Sit at the bar if you can since you'll get a more intimate look at what the sushi chefs are creating. Our favorite item on the menu is hands down the rosy sea perch. We frequent Boto for celebrations. However, we bring many out of town guests here too. Sushi lovers are never disappointed when they come with us to Boto.

Terrible service and management. Ordered online. Couldn't find order. Charged me for order but refused to give me the food because their online system malfunctioned. Had to call my credit card company to dispute the charge because the restaurant refused to simply make the food that they knew I was charged for. Asked me to prove the charge which I did and they still refused to honor it. Then they claimed I ordered to their other restaurant which they refused to call and check so I proved to them that was also not true. Still refused to honor the order.

Gary has done it again! Without a doubt, his omakase experience along with the sake pairing is second to none.When you make a reservation at Boto, do yourself a favor and experience Gary’s omakase. Your tastebuds will thank you.

Tremendous sushi! Enjoyed my trip back down to Del Mar and was surprised to find this gem in my old Vons shopping plaza. I put this place up there with Nobu or any other purist sushi place in SoCal!!
