Boulangerie Patisserie Vilmain

We visited Riquewihr for two days and stopped here for croissants, bread, butter and coffee one morning. We do not speak French but offered to speak in Italian or English. The woman at the register dismissed either language, but did put the items we asked...for on the counter. Her attitude toward us was rude and brusque. We paid our bill and left. The next morning I returned for some takeout coffee and bread. This same woman displayed prejudicial behavior toward me and was overtly rude. She instructed her assistant to not give me anything with which to carry the two cups of hot coffee. I asked for napkins and was given only one. I had to ask for a second one, which was thrown in my direction. The other customers gave me sympathetic and apologetic looks . They were native French people and were treated fairly well. In summary this obnoxious behavior left me with with a very negative impression of the town. Until this my husband and I had an enjoyable visit and were treated with respect by everyone else who we encountered. Sadly this experience has left a stain on my memory of Riquewihr.

We have visited this patisserie several times over many years, I have also reviewed it before but I think it is worth updating my review. Not that my opinion has changed but to make it clear that their high standards have been maintained over a number of years. The choice of cakes ans tarts is a difficult one to make, they are all so beautifuly presented. There are other places to buy cakes in town but if there is a better one I have yet to find it. The tea and coffee is also good. Most of the staff understand enough English should you need help. A visit to Ribeauville is incomplete without "foret noire" and tea or coffee.

We ordered two coffee and two pastries and paid immediately. After finishing our coffee and pastries we used the toilet, which was quite dirty. When we were leaving we were asked to pay an extra euro for using the toilet! Never experienced before!!

Went there for breakfast several times as cheaper than hotel. Also makes fresh sandwiches to go. Can't even tell you how many and great pastries and chocolates made that day! This place has won many awards.

This was our favorite bakery from our three-week trip to Europe. We absolutely loved the pain au chocolat, the croissants, the eclairs, everything!
