I remember when Box Car first opened, I was just entering my teenage years at the time. Boxcar quickly became a regular spot for my family, especially after Tucson's closed. It has always been a reliable choice for me. Although I am not a fan of the new menu changes, I have noticed that this seems to be a common trend in many Tex-Mex restaurants nowadays. I miss the old super gordo pick 3 items deal where you could choose a chimichanga, enchilada, and taco. Perhaps we are all becoming more health conscious and making smarter choices. I am a big fan of Boxcar Cantina. I've been there a few times, and it has been remarkably consistent. The atmosphere is very classic, with nice booths. I like that the bar is in its separate room so the noise doesn't overflow into the dining room. The staff have always been kind and attentive. Sometimes, service will be a little slow when they are busy. The food is tremendous. The farm-to-table theme shines. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. All in all, I like Boxcar Cantina and will be going back.
Everything about the restaurant was just fine. Our table was ready for us, our waiter was really good; very professional, helpful and attentive. Our meals were prepared nicely and presented well and tasted very good. I took away one star because the place was exceedingly loud. So much so it was difficult to hear what others at our table were saying. Also, they only served Tito's and one other vodka, both my least favorites. I would go back again and pick a night other than Saturday and hope it would be less noisy.
Big rip off. $22 for the smallest portion of enchiladas $9 for A cup of stew, the cup is smaller than 6oz. I 've eaten all over the country in big cities and small, in ritzy and hole in the wall good this is greed. They also didn 't offer any chips and didn 't address me directly when I walked in and asked for a table they pointed behind themselves and walked away. I have been going and ordering from Boxcar for over 10 years, it is one of the best and most consistent healthy/fun eateries in all of Greenwich! With a fully organic and local menu, you can always count on Boxcar to leave you feeling nourished and pleased after each meal. On top of all this, they have some of the best cocktails and healthier soda options in the area. From my family to yours, we love Boxcar! :
We came here with the kiddos. Hubby and I enjoyed our Tex mex meals. I thought it was very fresh. We thought the food was good and drinks were also nicely done. Kiddos didn't enjoy it as much as us so we told them they can get chic and fries next time we come which also looked good. Very kid friendly spot and seemed clean as well. Nice folks working here too.
