Paramos en Brauhaus Mayen el fin de semana pasado. Me sorprendió un poco que su horario de apertura del sábado no fuera el almuerzo, pero estaba bien. Caminamos un poco por la ciudad, hicimos algunas compras, luego nos dirigimos al brauerei para tomar un bier y ... un pequeño almuerzo. Una advertencia, y esta fue mi culpa por no verificar, es NO pidas pils o helles o terminarás con la basura de Warsteiner. Pedí un helles pensando, naturalmente, que conseguiría sus helles caseros locales. Mal, salió la basura de Warsteiner. Lo corrigí lo antes posible y tuve un par de sus biers locales. Es maravilloso. Esta vez solo tuvimos aperitivos vorpseisen para el almuerzo. Fui con bratkartoffelen mient...
We stopped at Brauhaus Mayen for the 4th time last weekend. I was a bit surprised their Saturday opening time was 1400 (no lunch) but that was okay. We walked around town a bit, did some shopping, then headed to the brauerei for bier and a small lunch.One caution, and this was my fault for not verifying, is do NOT order "pils" or "helles" or you'l end up with Warsteiner swill. I did order a helles thinking, naturally, I'd get their local homemade helles. Wrong, the swill of Warsteiner came out. I got that corrected ASAP and had a couple of their local helles biers. It's wonderful stuff.This time we just had vorpseisen (appetizers) for lunch. I went with bratkartoffelen while my wife had kart...
We ate/drank dinner here yesterday. It's unfortunate that they're not open for lunch on Saturdays (as I discovered on a previous visit to Mayen) but this time I planned better and checked their website for hours... We stopped in for a bier or two and ended up having bier and dinner. Had zigeuner schnitzel and bratkartoffelen. Awesomely good! And their home brewed hell bier is superb. I love this place.
We made our annual trip to Mayen (after a wonderful hike in nearby Monreal) and had an early dinner here. Their homemade hell bier is good. I had a great zigeuner schnitzel with bratkartofflen while my wife had a cheese burger. The schnitzel and bratkartofflen were excellent as always. The burger’s sauce (Knoblauch) was good but the burger itself was lacking seasoning.

The food is italian german style, the staff quite friendly. Located at one of the main roads in Mayen sitting out in the open is quite noisy. Tidiness could be improved and I always tried to avoid the smokers part.
