We arrived for breakfast at 7am on a Monday morning and were quickly greeted and shown to a table. The place was largely empty, just a few other visitors at this early hour. There is an all you can eat buffet with loads of choice, plus hot food cooked to order. Basically it is a full continental plus full English combination, so there is no lack of choice. Having missed dinner the night before we were very hungry. I started with a fruit salad, which was very fresh, thinly sliced apples, pineapple chunks, and peeled orange segments with all the pith removed. The welcome team member was friendly and the table in a good position. But….. The table was really really sticky despite being ‘cleaned’. We were a table of 8 and so two of us ordered for the table from different tills at exactly the same time. we queued to order food for over 25mins. Then, half our tables food arrived after 15mins but the other half hadn’t arrived in the kitchen so over an hour after the first half had their food we went to check and waited a further 20mins for which no apology was made. The ice machine was out of order for bottomless drinks and the self service coffee machine didn’t work either. The potion size wasn’t great for the price of the Thai green curry. The toilet...
Awful . Raw parsnips , plastic in my food , dried up potatoes , ridiculously small kids portion sizes . Wasn’t allowed dessert as told to leave as our time was up even though half the restaurant was empty) . Paid for our kids to go in the play area only to have a waitress come in and tell us to get the kids out as our table time was up . We left on Christmas Eve with very upset children , merry Christmas castle lake ! We expected your usual bad food but chose you as you were ideal for children but I’ve never seen our kids so upset at Christmas time . Your staff could do with growing hearts , the grinch comes to mind !
Sunday carvery was very disappointing. Luke warm. Beef very overcooked and dry. Brussels so hard I couldn't eat them. Roast potatoes not crispy. Mashed potato stuck solid to serving spoon. My daughter had a hair in her meal which completely put her off so she eat nothing. Refund issued. Childrens mains came before starters so were taken back but I believe the same meals were brought back after their starters as they were practically cold. Not impressed
Staying at Premier Inn for a business trip. Had breakfast at castle lake and was warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who talked me through how it all works as never been before. Even checked if I had any allergies. Very pleasant visit, breakfast was very filling. Will be returning next year. very much looking forward to it.
