The service was polite and attentive, but unfortunately, the food didn't meet our expectations this visit. My husband ordered the chicken and lemongrass dumplings, which were small and somewhat dried out. My starter of Asian eggplant with greens was quite lackluster. He also had the Steak Frites, a reliable choice, but the fries were excessively salty. I mistakenly chose the Moroccan Lamb Shank, which was well-cooked (falling off the bone), but it was overpowered by too much cinnamon. This restaurant is a gem. The hostess was cordial, accommodating and sat our party right away. We did not have to wait long to be visited by or server. What is amazing about this restaurant is they change the menu almost daily, creating more anticipation for the clientele. So there is a great variety of appetizers offered along with salads. The apps were amazing. Our party had the brisket, but he sea bass and of course a few burgers. Absolutely amazing and satiating everyone. The best was by far the dessert. In our local Facebook groups, Brick Walk Tavern is consistently highly rated, for food and service, so I finally made it over there, with my daughter. And I'm so glad I did, and can't wait to go again. Service was fantastic from the moment we entered. The interior is very nice and there are some amazing historical photos on the walls. Food was superb! We started with shrimp shumai, which were out of this world! My daughter had burger and some of the best fries I've ever hard. I had a delicious swordfish with risotto, and we finished with ice cream and for me, an espresso martini. The menu at this restaurant changes regularly, which is a delightful feature that adds variety. The portions are quite generous, and the quality of the food is outstanding—especially the seafood, which is always incredibly fresh. I've dined here several times, and every dish I've tried, along with those sampled by others in my group, has been expertly prepared and perfectly seasoned. It's clear that the chef possesses a remarkable talent. The chef's ability to showcase a diverse range of cuisines from various countries is truly impressive. As for the food, it was exceptional! We started with shrimp shumai, which were absolutely incredible. My daughter had a burger accompanied by some of the best fries I've ever tasted. I opted for a delicious swordfish with risotto, and we capped off our meal with ice cream and an espresso martini for me. The wine list was also impressive, and I tried a few new white wines at our server's recommendation. This is definitely one of those places where the experience is worth the price, especially for special occasions or for food lovers. I'm so pleased to have such a gem in Fairfield! Regarding kid-friendliness, I brought my 10-year-old daughter, and she thoroughly enjoyed herself.
Brick Walk Tavern bills itself as an upscale dining experience, but that is not what we encountered when we ate there. Although we had a reservation, we would told we would have to finish by a certain time, as there was another reservation at our table at 8:30pm. Certainly not the way to welcome someone or create an upscale experience. With so many other options in town, Brick Walk Tavern falls short in this way.
The service was great and the food was delicious. It was busy and very noisy. We were on the bar side of the restaurant. When I made the reservation I didn't specify seating but I did indicate it was our anniversary. I'm not sure it was the right ambience for our anniversary dinner. We had been there in the past for my birthday it was perfect for our big group.
