We decided to try out the Brown Horse for lunch after a day of shopping in Bowness, and we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic. I ordered the fish and chips, which were cooked perfectly with a crispy batter and delicious homemade chips. The portion of fish was huge and there was no greasy residue. My husband ordered the turkey roast, which not only looked amazing but also tasted just as good. We both agreed that this was one of the best meals we've ever had, especially considering the competition in the area. On the last night of our 4-night stay in the Lakes, we decided to try a different restaurant for dinner. After browsing on TripAdvisor, we chose The Brown Horse based on its excellent reviews. And we were not disappointed! For starters, we had serrano croquettes and tempura artichoke, followed by fish pie and venison cobbler for mains, and chocolate mousse and semifreddo for dessert. This restaurant is excellent. We were recommended the restaurant and enjoyed the most fantastic meal. I went for the Winster Estate Game of the Day with all its trimmings and could not believe just how good it was. It not only looked outstanding but was also a good meal rather than just pretty on the plate. My hubby had the the Crramy Fish Pie which was also thoroughly enjoyed. The food quality and presentation is superb and the staff are very attentive. We would Highly recommend.
We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every breakfast and every dinner. All the staff from the bar tenders, waiting staff and especially the chef/kitchen staff work seamlessly together. The wine selection was perfect and we both enjoyed every dish. Wish it was in our village!

Pros: good quality of the classic main courses with meat (pheasant, vennison), beers, traditional and charming decoration, waitresses' service. Cons: disappointing quality of the beefburger (notably the meat which was dry), waiter's service, poor attention to children.
In a quiet location off the beaten track but near Windermere the pub serves Home made ,Great food at a good price which we know is hard to find in the Lake District. Veggies and carnivores catered for
Lovely spot for an early evening meal. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who looked after us very well. Excellent menu and a lovely recommendation for a bottle of wine. Well worth a visit.
The food was lovely, my partner really enjoyed the fish pie. Service was good too, professional and friendly staff. Scenic views form the table, everywhere fort clean and tidy.
