Dreadful Experience and will never return. We visited The Brownlow Arms as a family group of 4 adults on New Year 's Day. Having recently moved to the area it has been our local pub and we have been most sundays for lunch which has always been lovely (despite regular delays in service). However today 's experience was just awful and we were made to feel like chancers and liars, and in front of other diners and staff! When we arrived the pub was practically empty but we still had to wait an hour and a half to be served our meals! Another party had previously complained at the wait. Two of us ordered sirloin steak. Having being out for a few Sunday lunches of late this has to be the worst. The service was poor had to queue for a drink when we arrived. The seats we were given were very uncomfortable it felt like the springs gad gone in them. We had to ask if we could order food when it the vegatables were in separate dishes with no serving spoon so had to use our forks. I tried to catch the young girl serving to no aclvail to ask for mire gravy but no luck. We ordered drinks with our food but they did not arrive so I left my food and stood at the bar for ten minutes to get our drinks. We last visited in January and had a great meal. The food this occasion was also very good. Also dog friendly, which is a plus for us. The problem being, when we arrived and stood at the bar for 15 minutes waiting to be served and then when seated the food took quite a while to arrive and then again we waited for desserts. I could understand if it was busy but it wasn’t, exactly the opposite. I was surprised by so many negative comments left lately, mainly related to the service but some related to the food. Fantastic food served here but the service lets it down. There is a problem recruiting staff throughout the UK in the hospitality sector but on our visit the young barman knew what he was doing but the 2 waitresses who were nice smart and pleasant needed some guidance and training so that they could step in. We felt that the menu was too big and that it could slashed in2 at least and concentrate on quality not quantity as the quality was superb. We have visited this pub a few times in the past, and while the service has been slow, it has been acceptable. However, during our most recent visit, despite having made a reservation for 7:30pm and the restaurant not being busy, it took a long time to get a drink and place our food order. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food and had to remind the staff to bring it out. I ordered a two-course meal but was never asked about dessert. When I raised concerns about the service, I was told they were busy, even though it was not the case. The interior of the restaurant had a nice and cosy atmosphere, but we had to wait 35 minutes before our order was taken. The baked sharing cheese starter took 45 minutes to arrive after we had to follow up on it. We asked multiple times when our main courses would be served, and it took at least 40 minutes for them to arrive. The food was good, but we had difficulty cutting the Yorkshire pudding. When we complained about the slow service, we were told that they were short-staffed. They didn't seem too concerned, and we had only made our booking that morning. If they were short-staffed, why did they book us in?
We made a reservation and our table was ready upon arrival. We were promptly served drinks after looking over the menu. Our starter and mains took longer than expected to arrive, with a 20-minute wait for our starter and another 50 minutes for our mains. After questioning the delay, we were informed that our main courses were still being cooked. Despite the wait, the food was delicious with generous portion sizes. Unfortunately, the service was lacking and there were delays in receiving our drinks. Ultimately, the experience was let down by the slow service.
Absolutely beautiful food at a very reasonable price, great atmosphere and the staff are very accommodating and the service was great 100% recommend. One of the bar staff even offered us a lift home due to no taxis

Excellent dog friendly Yorkshire pub. Great food with an extensive menu. Open fires. Good service and friendly staff. A warm Yorkshire welcome awaits you.
Had a lovely meal with family the food was delicious excellent value for money. I would thoroughly recommend a visit, we will certainly be back.
