The Wagamama restaurant in Reading is in a good location close to the Oracle. The place itself was ok but the music was too loud and the atmosphere reminded me of school cafeterias. They have a vegan and gluten-free menu although only one dish was gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan. The quality of the food is good and very fresh. Unfortunately, our table wasn’t cleaned before we were placed so we had to sit next to a lonely shrimp, in addition we weren’t given cutlery for the soup-like curry nor was the staff properly trained to serve wine and drinks. In a nutshell: ok but nothing special or remarkable about this place.
The waitress was the best part of the evening. She was lively, knowledgeable and efficient. She welcomed the party and fixed us up with drinks. The large noisy table which assembled afterwards was not her fault. My duck liver paté starter was delicious but the fish and chips main didn 't live up to it, either with the fish batter or the chips. Writing 'Happy Birthday ' on the birthday girl 's dessert was a nice touch. The wines were fine, especially the English sparkling wine. One of our party was very happy with the entrecôte steak but, on the whole, this was closer to a fair rather than a great meal.
We attended for Mothers Day where a set menu had been prepared including a selection of roast dinners. The food was good and we enjoyed the visit. The slight downside was the speed of service we were in there for over 3 hours for 3 courses, however, it was Mothers Day and I guess most restaurants struggle to cover the throughput on such days. The bill was incorrect but they were quick to correct it so no problems there. I also use Browns fairly regularly for business meals as its local and big enough to cater for larger tables.
I gave this a star purely for the food.A group of us ate here last week, we all had a promo QR code for a free cocktail, at no point where we advised only certain cocktails were included. Our server advised to order drinks, and would sort out vouchers later this should have been a penny drop moment for her, as I'd expect her to know what is and is not included.Would have avoided an embarrassing experience when the bill was received.

I can honestly say, since the menu changed, the food is rather horrid and over priced. I guess they are trying to cut costs. The service is always good and drinks are fine. I won't be going back to browns in a hurry! Bring back the old menu and better produce.

I found the reading browns in an excellent location opposite the river and the friendly and informative service helped us to find the right food and wine. very pleasant and will soon repeat s0ketime entine.
Food was absolutely to die for, in fact confident to say one of the best restaurants in Reading service was a little short of good however redeemed, sure this isn't the norm.Would return and recommend

Excellent food and excellent service. Been a number of times and we've never been dissappointed, it's especially nice when they have someone playing the piano.
