Bubba's Smokehouse

We were looking for a barbecue restaurant while we were passing through and came across Bubba's Smokehouse because of the good reviews. There was a sign right at the entrance requiring you to show an ID to enter. We showed our official German ID cards and were turned away by the very unfriendly employee at the entrance. The names on the German ID cards are in English and are therefore internationally understandable. He communicated loudly with us and assumed that they were driving licenses. He didn't even look closely at the IDs and didn't allow us to explain anything. The behavior was extremely unfriendly! Apparently tourists are not welcome.

What else can I even say about Bubba’s. Bubba is the king of barbecue, I am eternally grateful for the day that Bubba started smoking meat. Barbecue itself is eternally grateful that Bubba decided to make it. Thank you Bubba for blessing my life with flavor, juicy meat, the best sides, and the loveliest smile. Forever in my heart: Bubba.

Love Bubbas! They’ve moved from La Jolla to Rancho Bernardo and are doing TO-GO orders only. I will gladly drive to the new location to be able to get my Bubbas fix. Jeff the owner is a great guy and the bbq is delicious! TIP: Call in or order online and go pick up your order. Follow the signs and pull up to the sign pictured!

We love this BBQ place near La Jolla Cove Beach area. The food is and the server was exceptional. We got the Bubba combo that comes with 3 meats (pulled pork, chopped brisket and baby back ribs) a side and cornbread. The meats were so moist and flavorful. Their BBq sauce was sweet and tangy. We had the beef ribs,cheese burgers, wings, sliced brisket, grilled chicken breast and chicken tenders. Everything was just made to perfection! We thought that we will have lots leftovers but the kids really liked the food doesn’t happen often) and ate everything that we got them. We will be back soon for sure !!!

The service was absolutely terrible. I asked a straightforward question: whether the ribs were beef or pork. It took her 15 minutes to find out, and during that time, she completely forgot about me at my table. I ended up getting up and leaving.

Visited a while back for dinner no reservation) ordered everything and got seated in reasonable time. We loved the baby back ribs, corn bread, pulled pork , potato salad and BBQ beans. Great food and good experience overall.

This is not how American bbq should taste. The tri tip steak tasted like it was made by someone who bought the cheapest meat they could find, didn’t know how to cook it and then charged $20 for it. Reserva una mesa ahora
