I was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease, and baked goods have always been my weakness, so I was eager to try By the Way Bakery. While feeling under the weather at home, I decided to order a few items through GrubHub to get a sense of the place. To my delight, I forgot I was eating gluten-free—the taste and texture were spot on: not too sweet, not gritty, and not crumbly.
Here’s what I tried: the crème puff, which was incredibly soft and wonderful, though by the time it arrived, the custard may have been absorbed (unless that’s how it’s meant to be). The little almond spiral and almond cookie were delightful, reminiscent of a pignoli cookie but without the pine nuts—absolutely nothing...

I am 100% a picky dessert eater and home baker. If I can make a better version myself, then I don’t want to buy it. When I discovered my gluten sensitivity, I still ate my desserts and just suffered through the stomach aches because I couldn’t find (or make) decent enough GF desserts. Then I discovered BTW Bakery and OMG the cake and cupcakes rival any gluten filled cake I’ve had at super famous bakeries in NYC! If you didn’t already know that these were GF and dairy free, I don’t think you’d be able to tell. The brownie cookies are also very good- fudgey and chocolatey in all the best ways. My stomach thanks you!

I purchased a Triple Chocolate cake for her birthday from By the Way Bakery and was completely blown away. It was the most amazing cake we had ever eaten. Couldn't tell the difference. Just so delicious!!! The cake is tasteful, moist and you would never know it is gluten-free and milk free. I have 2 celiac children and they can eat here know they are safe. Our whole family loves the cakes. We have tried the chocolate raspberry and vanilla as well as the cupcakes and Whoopi cakes. So good! I never go back to a “regular” bakery!
I got so many compliments on the classic chocolate cake I brought over to my family's house. It was so moist and rich! We all loved it! We didn't even miss the gluten!
This is a spacious bakery that specializes in gluten-free options, and the food tastes as though it’s made with regular flour.

Fantastic pastries. Not too sweet and delicious! Tried their whoopie pie and cream puff, 50s style!
Such good quality! Much better than any gluten or diary desert i’ve had!
