I own a restaurant, so I'm pretty picky about where I eat. I was introduced to this restaurant a couple of years ago and have since recommended it to many. This evening, while in Bracebridge to go to the movies I took a friend here to eat first that had never tried it. Because we wanted popcorn, we only had some appetizers but it was enough and they were delicious. They have this signature drink that is blue and has flowers on top, it's incredible! The atmosphere is so unique, a perfect place for a meal or there is comfortable, intimate side tables to bring friends for a drink and appies. The ambiance is very tropical, you feel like your on an island somewhere. To top it off, you get sorbet...
I think alot of people do not know about this place, it is interesting to say the least, I didn't care for the lady waitress with her top wayyy too low but the drinks were good, we opted out of the buffet, thinking it was a waste of food as there didn't seem to be alot of patrons...and we had already eaten at the awesome steak restaurant across the street.We were in there quite overdressed, actually dressed for the winter that was outside their door..their parrot was entertaining and they take very good care of it...
We stopped here on a whim when on a rally with some friends as much wasnt open in the area in off season we went in. We are sure glad we did ! The burger is as delicious with BBQ pineapple we also had the catch of the day on our group which was halibut encrusted with coconut with a mango pineapple salsa with five and veg . Everything was hot fresh and delicious I give this 5 stars cocktails were lovely . Staff was so friendly and checked on us often !!! Superb place !! Will define take return !
Hi .. We live in bracebridge and we frequent cabanas on many occasions ... the atmosphere is fabulous with there tropical theme and reggae feel .. we love it !! Food is good..service is friendly and good times roll constantly. Bill and Francie are warm , inviting and lots of fun .. they bring in great bands ,host amazing parties and make you feel at any time of the year like you just walked on the beach in Jamaica .. We started coming to this restaurant in the first week it opened. The service has always been outstanding, the food has been great... the drinks are tremendous. Its the people who own this business that make it so special. We are avid travelers and sometimes when we need to get away but cant due to schedule issues and busyness we are so glad that we can go to Cabanas.We have always been made to feel like family....Bill and Francine absolutely rock!!!!
I like the idea of having a Caribbean theme for a restaurant/bar, especially during the cold winter months in Canada. The decor was cool and some parts gave the southern vibe. There weren't many people there, perhaps if the space was smaller it would have a better intimate feel. The food was fine, even though it took a long time to have it delivered to the table. The server was very nice. With a little tweaking it could be awesome and fun.
