Found this delightful little cafe a few hundred metres from the holiday inn we were staying at. Only went once for breakfast but was impressed. The service was pleasant and quick. The coffee was very agreeable and my salmon snd crushed avocado on sourdough was very fresh and tasty. Some reviewers think it’s a tad pricy but I found it similar to places all over York do no complaints from me. I liked the outside seating area but it was full when we got there. Surprising seeing there was roadworks almost directly opposite the cafe.
Stopped for a late breakfast before travelling home from York. We both had the cooked breakfast with thick toast, washed down with several cups of steaming tea. The food was spot-on, especially the bacon and sausage, as well as reasonably priced. We sat outside under the gazebo, which the council were intending to be removed. The owner asked if we would object to the councils intentions, which we happily did. Pleased to see the council have seen sense!
Once again, we indulged in the perfect weekend pit stop today at Cafe at No. 12 a long and leisurely 'Build Your Own Breakfast ' brunch in the sun, savouring delicious, healthy, locally sourced, high quality ingredients, served promptly by the friendly and welcoming team who were obviously enjoying their work. This has become a regular weekend treat, and this lovely place serves up the perfect tonic every time highly recommended!
Having read the great reviews before coming, we were certainly not disappointed and most definitely agree with everything written by others. We were up against the clock with one of our party having a train to catch. Service was excellent and the quality of food superb. We had a granola bowl, full English, smashed avocado and salmon, and a bacon roll all delicious! Would recommend it all!

Best smashed avocado on sourdough I have ever tasted. Came with a fried egg as requested but the pumpkin seeds and chilli oil gave it a kick and a crunch that was undeniably delicious. It looked beautiful too. Teamed with a creamy oatmilk flat white, well priced, clearly all made by somebody who cares. And to think I nearly went to Starbucks!
What a lovely little spot for breakfast. We stayed at the hotel opposite but wanted a more reasonably priced breakfast. This place was perfect. Friendly staff, yummy food served quickly and just what we needed to fuel a day in York one day and a family wedding the next. Highly recommended! :
Lovely cute little cafe on Tadcaster road which I visited for the first time last week. Only had a coffee but the cakes looked very good, so we'll have to try one next time. Good friendly service too.
Such a lovely little cafe! We have visited many times for coffee, brunch and lunch and would highly recommend. Always great service, tasty food and treats. A true independent local gem!

Fantastic !!!! So much energy and perfection put into the food!! We were crazy but the new Google Breakfast was the best breakfast the lady ever has eaten xx
